Community Highlights: Meet Michael Ashley of Michael L Ashley C. Ped

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Ashley.

Hi Michael, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My path into Pedorthics started with my grandparents. I lost both to complications from diabetes, and that experience stayed with me. Years later, while working customer service for Aetrex, I found myself connecting deeply with customers dealing with foot pain and mobility issues. The owners noticed and offered to send me to Pedorthic school. That opportunity turned a job into a calling, and I’ve been helping people stay mobile and pain‑free ever since.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I was learning Pedorthics and learning business at the same time, which is basically like trying to learn to walk while also learning how to build the airplane you’re flying. I didn’t have a business background, so everything was new: taxes, marketing, pricing, paperwork. I’d go from studying foot biomechanics to Googling “What does net 30 mean?” But those struggles made me resourceful, humble, and determined. They shaped me into someone who can solve problems on both sides, clinical and business.

We’ve been impressed with Michael L Ashley C. Ped, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
WHAT THE PUBLIC SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME
I’m a Board Certified Pedorthist who built a foot‑care practice from the ground up, not because I planned to, but because life pushed me toward helping people stay mobile, independent, and pain free. I lost my grandparents to diabetic complications, and that experience shaped everything I do. My work is personal, and I treat every patient like family.

I’m not a big clinic. I’m not a chain. I’m one person who shows up every day to make sure people can keep working, walking, and living without foot pain.

WHAT I’M KNOWN FOR
People know me for three things:

My bedside manner: I explain things in plain English, with humor, patience, and zero judgment.

My technical precision: I’m obsessive about fit, function, and biomechanics.

My honesty: I don’t upsell, I don’t pressure, and I don’t recommend anything people don’t need.

I’m the guy who will spend an extra 15 minutes adjusting an insert because “almost right” isn’t good enough.

WHAT SETS ME APART
A few things make my practice different:

I bridge clinical care with real world practicality. I don’t just look at your feet, I look at your job, your lifestyle, your shoes, your movement, and your goals.

I built my business philosophy around transparency. No hidden fees, no confusing jargon, no “surprise” add‑ons.

I offer specialized packages that simplify care for people who need ongoing support, diabetics, workers on their feet, athletes, and older adults.

I’m deeply rooted in Southwest Dallas. I’m not just serving a community, I’m part of it.

Most clinics treat the condition. I treat the person.

THE VALUE I BRING
I bring clarity, comfort, and confidence to people who are tired of being in pain or being dismissed.

I help workers stay on the job without limping through their shift.

I help diabetics protect their feet before problems start.

I help athletes move better and recover faster.

I help older adults stay independent and active.

And I bring that value outside my clinic walls, through community partnerships, screenings, education events, and local outreach. My goal is simple: keep Southwest Dallas moving.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I’m an avid reader. You can often catch me reading my Kindle between appointments. I also love to cook. I often unwind by coming up with new creations in the kitchen.
