Michael, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Russian Banya of Dallas has been around for 19 years. Reopened after COVID in 2022 under new management.
“Banya” means a bath house and Russian Banya of Dallas, the only one of its kind in all Texas. It combines SPA and restaurant together in one building and offers world famous Slavic Hospitality, relaxing atmosphere, health benefits and delicious food.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
SInce few years ago our customer base has changed from predominantly ex eastern Europeans to local Americans. And the word spread quickly amongst locals. As soon as the new customer tries the spa, they are sold. Stil it is hard to bring them through the door for the first time.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Banya means sauna in Russian. This is a wellness center where you can experience three different hot rooms (Finnish dry sauna, Turkish Hammam, and Russian parilka running on the wood-burning brick stove, which is unique for the US). We recently upgraded our cold plunge – a barrel of freezing cold water. It runs now at 28-34 degrees. The health benefits of both the hot sauna treatment, cold procedures as well as combination of them is well known and scientifically established.
The intensive thermal contrast of sauna treatment in combination with good food and relaxing atmosphere in the facility makes the huge stress-relieving effect and general impact to your personal wellness.
All of our saunas are co-ed, as is our lounge area, which seats up to 60 people.
Saunas are clothing optional.
