Community Highlights: Meet Sandra Murcott of BRAINTOPIA Neurofeedback Centers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra Murcott.

Hi Sandra, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When our son was 10, he had some issues with attention and emotional regulation. I searched for non-drug solutions and learned about neurofeedback, a non-invasive therapy to help regulate brain activity. It was life changing for him and for us.

As an elementary school educator of 25 years, I have seen so many families struggle with similar issues. I knew it could help other kids they way it helped mine. So, I got certified as a neurofeedback provider and bought the equipment to set up in a room I rented in a chiropractor’s office. I planned to offer service a couple days a week, and every other Saturday. As word spread about the amazing results we were getting, we had to expand to keep up with demand, Three years later, we have ten centers in the Dallas area and have helped over a thousand clients. It’s been an incredibly rewarding experience.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Neurofeedback isn’t new. It’s been around for decades and was initially used by NASA to help optimize brain performance for astronauts and prepare them for the rigors of space travel. However, it’s still a relatively recent arrival to consumer healthcare. So, the biggest obstacle we face is a lack of awareness of what Neurofeedback does and how it can help people.

As with most non-medicine solutions to health challenges the medical industry is slow to adopt. We spend a lot of time educating local healthcare providers, so they can share it with their patients. There is also a stigma in our society about brain health, and some people are hesitant to admit they have an issue and seek help. We work to normalize brain health as just another part of overall wellness. We check our heart, our lungs, and every other part of our body. Checking the health of our brain is no different.

As you know, we’re big fans of BRAINTOPIA Neurofeedback Centers. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
BRAINTOPIA provides a safe, drug-free way to reduce symptoms of ADHD, anxiety, stress/depression, insomnia, and memory issues. Neurofeedback uses biofeedback to teach the brain to produce healthier neural patterns of functioning.

This non-invasive and drug-free approach utilizes advanced brain imaging technology to monitor brainwave activity, allowing for the identification of unhealthy patterns. Once these irregularities are pinpointed, guided audio and visual feedback are used to assist individuals in self-regulating and optimizing their brain function.

Neurofeedback is for people of all ages. Our clients are families with children, executives and athletes looking to improve peak performance, first responders with PTSD, and accident victims with concussions and brain trauma.

Pricing:

  • Q/EEG (Brain Map) $399.00
  • Neurofeedback Protocol $3900 for 30 sessions and 2 additional Brain Maps
