Community Highlights: Meet Sarah Amrou of Saniia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Amrou.

Hi Sarah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m a first-generation Lebanese-American and the founder of Saniia, a creative marketing agency built around storytelling, culture, and bold ideas. My journey has been anything but traditional. When I was 17, I left the U.S. and moved to Lebanon to reconnect with my roots and better understand where my family came from. What was supposed to be a short chapter turned into over ten years of my life. I finished my studies there, built lifelong relationships, and honestly became the woman I am today because of that experience.

Living in Beirut shaped the way I see the world. It taught me resilience, adaptability, and how to create beauty even in chaos. The creative energy there was unmatched. I was constantly surrounded by artists, musicians, designers, and people who knew how to turn struggle into expression. That environment pushed me to think differently and trust my instincts creatively.

When I came back to the States, I knew I wanted to build something of my own. That’s how Saniia was born. I wanted to create an agency that felt human, culturally aware, emotionally driven, and not boxed into the typical corporate marketing world. Over the years, I’ve worked across industries from lifestyle and nightlife to healthcare and tech, helping brands tell stories that actually connect with people.

It definitely wasn’t an easy road. There were moments where I doubted myself, moments where I had to rebuild, pivot, and keep going even when things felt uncertain. But I’ve always believed that if you stay authentic and keep showing up, the right opportunities find you. Today, I’m focused on continuing to grow Saniia, collaborate with purpose-driven brands, and create work that leaves a lasting impact.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not. I think social media makes entrepreneurship look glamorous, but behind the scenes it takes a lot of sacrifice, risk, and rebuilding. I’ve had moments where I questioned everything, especially while trying to build a business in a highly competitive industry where people constantly underestimate creatives and women, especially women from diverse backgrounds.

One of the biggest challenges was learning how to trust myself. Early on, I cared too much about proving myself or fitting into spaces that were never really built for someone like me. Over time, I realized my differences were actually my strength. My cultural background, my perspective, the way I approach storytelling and branding, all of that became the reason people connected with my work.

There were also financial risks, burnout, difficult partnerships, and moments where I had to start over mentally and professionally. But every setback taught me resilience. Lebanon taught me resilience too. When you come from a place that has experienced so much instability yet still finds ways to create beauty, community, and art, you learn how to keep moving forward no matter what.

Looking back, I wouldn’t change the hard parts. They forced me to grow thicker skin, sharper instincts, and a deeper understanding of who I am and what I want to build.

We’ve been impressed with Saniia, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Saniia is a creative marketing agency rooted in storytelling, culture, and impact. We work with brands, businesses, artists, and founders to help them build stronger identities and deeper connections with their audience through branding, creative direction, social media strategy, content production, campaigns, and digital experiences.

What sets us apart is that we approach branding emotionally, not just visually. We focus on creating work that actually makes people feel something. A lot of our inspiration comes from art, music, nightlife, fashion, and global culture, especially my years living in Beirut, which heavily shaped my creative perspective.

What I’m most proud of is that Saniia has stayed authentic while growing. We’ve worked across industries from hospitality and entertainment to healthcare and tech, while keeping a strong creative identity. At the core of everything we do is meaningful storytelling and helping brands leave a lasting impression instead of just following trends.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Absolutely. My parents deserve a huge amount of credit for who I am today. They believed in me long before I fully believed in myself. They gave me the freedom to explore, supported my education, exposed me to my culture, and trusted me enough to let me build my own path. A lot of my drive comes from wanting to make them proud and give back to them the way they gave to me.

The creative community in Beirut also played a massive role in shaping me creatively and personally. Being surrounded by artists, musicians, designers, photographers, and entrepreneurs in a city filled with both chaos and beauty taught me how powerful creativity can be. That environment pushed me to think bigger, create fearlessly, and trust my instincts.

I also have to give credit to the clients, collaborators, and friends who took chances on me and believed in my vision, especially in the early stages of Saniia. Building a business is never a solo journey. Every opportunity, conversation, collaboration, and even challenge helped shape the foundation of where I am today.
