Conversations with Annette Rendon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annette Rendon.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story starts with wanting to take a different route in life. I knew the traditional path, going off to college and finding a job, wasn’t something I saw myself doing. I wanted something more fulfilling, something that would make a real impact.
After high school, I wasn’t sure which direction I wanted to go. I just knew I wanted to do something in a field similar to what my brother was studying in the medical field. My sister suggested looking into massage therapy, and I decided to check it out. After weighing the pros and cons, I took a step into this field, not yet knowing the amazing things this industry had in store.
Working in various settings, from a chiropractic office to spas, I was able to find my niche and discover what worked best for me and my clients. Five years into my career, I decided to start my own business. I wanted to make a difference, not just for myself, but for my clients as well. Working for others, I observed how some businesses focused solely on profit and overlooked what matters most: the customer. This industry is built on wellness, providing care for the people who keep our communities moving, from teachers to first responders to healthcare workers.
Now, ten years into this industry, my goal with every person I work on is to provide the best possible support for their self-care journey.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey hasn’t been easy. I faced burnout, self-doubt, and the challenge of balancing work with personal well-being. Early on, I poured everything into my work and neglected myself, which left me physically and mentally exhausted.
Over time, I realized that to care for others, I first had to care for myself. Prioritizing my spiritual, physical, and mental well-being helped me find balance and renewed my passion for what I do. Hearing how much relief and relaxation my clients experienced reminded me why I started in the first place.
The challenges I faced taught me valuable lessons and shaped who I am today. Burnout and self-doubt are common experiences, but learning to work through them has made me stronger, more resilient, and better equipped to help others navigate similar struggles.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My area of expertise is in massage therapy, with a specialization in creating a peaceful and relaxing environment. While I do offer other services, such as deep tissue, cupping, and facial sculpting massage, my focus always comes back to relaxation.
I believe that is what sets me apart from others in the industry, and it is something our society truly needs today. With all the stressors we face in everyday life, my goal is to create a sanctuary where people can come in, unwind, and let go, even if just for an hour.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The qualities I feel are most important to my success are kindness, grace toward others, and a genuine effort to understand what others may be going through. These are qualities I had to develop over my years in this industry, because at its core, this is a people business. People want to be seen and heard ,and without those characteristics, it would be difficult to truly help someone who may be going through a hard time in their life.
These are qualities I am still refining every day, but I hope that with even just an ounce of kindness, grace, and understanding, I can make a meaningful difference in the life of every person I come across.
