Hi Chelsea, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I got my first Polaroid camera when I was five and even at that age I was fascinated by how a single image could hold a feeling, a story, or a moment in time. I did not fully understand it then but that little camera sparked something in me. When I turned thirteen my parents gifted me my first DSLR for my birthday and that was the moment everything really began. I started documenting the people and everyday details around me, learning how to use light, emotion, and perspective to create something meaningful.
Photography quickly became my way of connecting with others. I loved the way people opened up in front of the camera and how real, unscripted moments could unfold with just a little trust. As my skills grew so did my dream of turning this passion into a business that felt both creative and personal. What began as weekend shoots for friends and family eventually became a full-time career built on heart, intention, and a deep love for storytelling.
Scott, my husband, joined me along the way and brings his own perspective and energy to our work. Together we created The Dials Photography. We now work side by side documenting life in a way that feels honest and meaningful. Every session is an opportunity to create something beautiful and lasting and I feel truly blessed to do what I love for a living.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building The Dials Photography from the ground up has been a journey full of challenges and growth. Starting a business is never easy and requires learning new skills beyond just photography. There were times when balancing the creative side with the business side felt overwhelming, and moments of uncertainty where I questioned if I was on the right path. But through every challenge, my passion and faith have kept me grounded. I truly believe God gave me this gift for a purpose and that keeps me motivated to keep pushing forward.
Photography is more than a job to me. It is a calling that I cannot imagine turning away from. Each session is an opportunity to connect with people, tell their stories, and create lasting memories that matter. This work fills me with joy and drives me to improve and grow every day. It gives me a way to express my creativity while honoring my values and serving my clients with care and intention.
I approach this business with dedication and gratitude. While the road has not always been smooth, every experience has shaped me and strengthened my commitment to what I do. I feel truly blessed to be able to pursue my passion and make a positive impact through the stories I help document.

Some of my favorite sessions are the ones where time seems to slow down, Like when a bride tears up reading a letter from her groom, or a mama glances down at her baby bump with that quiet, glowing smile. These are the in-between moments that often go unnoticed, but they carry so much weight. That is what drives me. It’s not about the perfect pose or the Pinterest-worthy shot, but about documenting the real, fleeting pieces of your story that you’ll want to hold onto years from now.
Being invited into these chapters of someone’s life is never something I take lightly. I don’t just show up with a camera. I show up with heart. I want you to feel seen and valued, and I want your photos to feel like you.
