Hi Jacqueline, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello there! I’m Jackie—a proud 90s baby, licensed esthetician, certified lash artist, makeup artist, and the heart behind #BeautyByJackieH.
My journey into the beauty industry began over 18 years ago when I was just a teenager with a love for makeup and a curiosity to learn everything I could. I was incredibly blessed to begin my career at a makeup counter, where talented mentors invested in my training and helped me discover that beauty was about so much more than products—it was about helping women feel confident in who they are.
As the years went by, my passion naturally expanded into skincare. Having struggled with cystic acne myself, I understand how deeply our skin can affect our confiden8ce. That personal experience inspired me to become passionate about helping others achieve healthier skin through customized treatments, education, and realistic skincare goals. As I experience the natural changes that come with aging, I have also grown to love helping my clients embrace healthy aging with confidence and grace.
One of the greatest blessings in my life was becoming a stay-at-home mom. During that season, God was shaping my heart in ways I didn’t fully understand at the time. When He later opened the door for me to pursue esthetics professionally, I stepped into a completely new chapter. Becoming a licensed esthetician allowed me to combine everything I loved—makeup artistry, skincare, creativity, education, and caring for people.
While in esthetics school, I unexpectedly fell in love with the artistry of lash extensions. I quickly realized that no two faces are alike, and that’s what makes this work so rewarding. Every facial, lash set, and makeup application is an opportunity to create something uniquely tailored to each individual.
Shortly after graduating, #BeautyByJackieH was born.
Looking back, I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be where I am today without God’s grace and faithfulness. Every opportunity, every mentor, every client, and every season has played a part in shaping both me and my business. My faith has been the foundation that has carried me throughout this journey and continues to guide the way I serve others.
Today, #BeautyByJackieH is so much more than a beauty business—it’s an extension of my heart. My goal has never simply been to help women look beautiful. I believe every woman already possesses a unique beauty. My privilege is helping her recognize that beauty, care for herself with confidence, and leave feeling seen, valued, and genuinely cared for.
I strive to create an experience that is personal, peaceful, and intentional. Whether a client is relaxing on my treatment bed for a facial or lash appointment, or sitting in my makeup chair preparing for a special occasion, I want that time to feel like a pause from the busyness of everyday life. More than beautiful results, I hope every client leaves feeling encouraged, refreshed, and knowing they were cared for with excellence, compassion, and grace.
It is truly an honor to combine my love for beauty, education, and serving others into a career that allows me to love on my community one person at a time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but I believe it’s true when people say that anything worth having is worth fighting for.
One of the biggest challenges I faced was balancing esthetics school, a full-time job, and family responsibilities after being a stay-at-home mom for many years. It was a major life transition, and finding a new rhythm wasn’t easy. There were moments when I questioned myself, felt overwhelmed, and wondered whether I could successfully build a business while managing everything else.
Like many entrepreneurs, I also faced the challenges of building a clientele, learning the business side of the industry, and pushing through the fear and uncertainty that often come with starting something new. Every setback became an opportunity to learn, grow, and become more confident in my abilities.
More recently, I faced an unexpected challenge when serious health issues forced me to slow down and reevaluate parts of my career. As someone who genuinely loves serving clients and growing my business, it was difficult to face physical limitations and uncertainty about what the future might look like. However, that experience taught me the importance of adaptability, perseverance, and taking care of myself while continuing to pursue my goals.
Looking back, resilience has been the common thread through every stage of my journey. Whether it was returning to school, building a business from the ground up, or navigating health challenges, I learned that growth often happens during the most difficult seasons. God has been incredibly faithful in placing people in my life who have encouraged me throughout this journey. I’m especially grateful for my husband, our children, my family, my friends, my mentors, and my clients. Their encouragement, prayers, and support have reminded me that no dream is ever accomplished alone.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At the core of #BeautyByJackieH are three specialties: facials, lash extensions, and makeup artistry. What I love most about these services is that no two clients are the same, which is why I believe every service should be customized to the individual.
When it comes to skincare, I take the time to analyze my client’s skin, lifestyle, and concerns before creating a treatment plan. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether I’m performing microdermabrasion, acne treatments, anti-aging facials, facial massage, or lymphatic drainage, every service is tailored to the client’s unique needs. I believe that understanding a person’s daily habits, stress levels, and skincare routine plays a crucial role in achieving healthy, lasting results.
The same philosophy applies to lash extensions. No lash set should look exactly the same because every client has different eye shapes, facial features, and personal preferences. I take the time to discuss my client’s goals and recommend a style and technique that will be the most flattering and comfortable for them. I specialize in creating lash sets that enhance natural beauty while still feeling effortless and wearable.
As a makeup artist, I primarily focus on glam and special event makeup. While inspiration photos can be helpful, I enjoy educating clients on how different makeup styles work with various eye shapes, skin textures, and event settings. My goal is to create a look that not only photographs beautifully but also complements the client’s individual features and personality.
What I am most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. I strive to create an experience that feels personal, welcoming, and safe. I never want my clients to feel rushed or like they are just another appointment on the schedule. I believe the relationships I build with my clients are just as important as the services I provide, and that commitment to personalization, education, and genuine care is what sets me apart.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that growth rarely happens inside your comfort zone.
For a long time, I was a stay-at-home mom, and stepping into a completely new chapter by going back to school, working full-time, and building a business was both exciting and intimidating. Along the way, I faced challenges that tested my confidence, patience, and perseverance. More recently, unexpected health challenges forced me to slow down and reevaluate parts of my career. Looking back, I realize that every season—both the joyful and the difficult ones—was preparing me for something greater.
One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that success isn’t about having everything figured out or relying solely on your own strength. It’s about being willing to take the next step in faith, even when you can’t see the whole path.
My Christian faith has been the foundation of my journey from the very beginning. I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be where I am today without God’s grace and favor. There were many moments when I questioned whether I was capable, whether I was making the right decisions, or whether I should keep going. Yet time and time again, God reminded me that He was the One opening doors, providing opportunities, and faithfully carrying me through seasons I never thought I would overcome.
Because of that, I’ve come to see my work differently. Beauty has never been just about lashes, skincare, or makeup. Those are the services I provide, but people are the reason I do what I do. Every client who walks through my door has a story, and I consider it a privilege to spend that time with them. I hope they leave feeling more than beautiful—I hope they feel seen, valued, cared for, and at peace.
I’ve also learned that asking for help is not a sign of weakness. My family, friends, mentors, clients, and the people God has placed in my life have encouraged me through every season, and I am deeply grateful for each one of them.
Today, resilience means something different to me than it once did. It’s no longer about pushing through on my own. It’s about trusting God through every season, continuing to move forward with faith, and remembering that every challenge has purpose. If my journey has taught me anything, it’s that God often does His greatest work in the seasons we would have never chosen for ourselves.
As I continue growing #BeautyByJackieH, I hope that my business reflects the love, peace, excellence, and compassion that God has shown me. If clients remember anything about their experience with me, I hope it isn’t just the service they received—I hope they remember how they felt while they were here.
