Hi Jaira, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hey there!! My name is Jaira, the face behind JairasUpdos! Started my love for hairstyling back in the Barbie / Bratz days with cutting all of my dolls hair and then moved on to hairstyling family members and close friends during high school. Getting the girls ready for prom, photo shoots, parties and then movedq on to their weddings.
While I was doing a couple clients here and there my career finally took off during the thick of Covid in 2020 while 7 months pregnant with my 4th kiddo. With a fellow hair/makeup artist who opened the doors for me to grow my artistry and enter the bridal / wedding industry.
And haven’t stopped booking brides, quinceañeras, prom girls, photo shoots, and most recently doing work for important public figures.& During all this, being blessed with my first destination client along side talented artists.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In all honesty, the road has been smooth all along.
I dedicated most of my 20’s being a stay at home mom, which for me is always my priority. Even now, I’m blessed to be able to have my own schedule. A schedule that works around my family. My village has always had my back especially my husband! The road was how it was supposed to be for me. And the time came at the correct time for my career to begin. I take it how it comes. It’s all Gods timing!

Updos! The love for Updos is what got me known! Hence how I came up with my name. Now my specialty is updos & glam Hollywood waves.
I think perfecting my Hollywood waves is what I have been most proud of lately. It was/is a whole self teaching process. Every head of hair is so different from one another and the challenge is still there.
In my opinion what sets me apart is my attention to detail and patience. Having a transparent relationship with my clients from the day they ask for my rates to when I walk out the door after completing my job. I always thriving to have the best communication to each and every client I have. Making them feel that they have my undivided attention, and hearing all of their wants and needs to make them feel as comfortable . And do my part as best as possible to make their day memorable!
