Conversations with Jazmin Leslie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmin Leslie.

Hi Jazmin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into wedding planning actually started after planning my own wedding. I absolutely fell in love with the process and realized how much I enjoyed not only the creative side of weddings, but also the logistics and guest experience behind them.

Before starting my business, I worked in both the service industry and in hospitality, which taught me the importance of service, attention to detail, and how to stay calm under pressure. After my wedding, I started helping with events, often for free, simply to gain experience and build relationships. I didn’t have a big budget or investors. I just had a passion for the industry and a willingness to work hard. Over time, those opportunities grew into Events by Leslie, and I’ve been fortunate enough to turn something I love into a career.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting a business with very little money meant I had to figure things out as I went. In the beginning, I took on opportunities simply to gain experience and prove myself, and there were plenty of moments where I questioned whether I could actually make it work.

One of the biggest challenges was learning to trust myself and stay patient while growing. Building a reputation takes time, especially in an industry that’s built on relationships and referrals. Looking back, though, those struggles taught me resilience and gave me a deep appreciation for every client who has trusted me along the way.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Events by Leslie is a wedding planning and design company focused on creating beautiful, intentional celebrations while making the planning process feel less overwhelming. I work closely with my couples from start to finish and truly get to know them on a personal level.

I think what sets me apart is that my clients never feel like a transaction. By the time the wedding day arrives, many of them feel more like friends. Wedding planning is such an intimate process, and I want my couples to feel comfortable calling, texting, asking questions, and knowing they have someone in their corner. I’m proud of the relationships I’ve built and the trust my clients place in me during one of the biggest moments of their lives.

What matters most to you? Why?
Love. It sounds simple, but I truly believe it’s the only thing that really matters.

Love for your art, your work, your community, the earth, and the people around you. It’s the foundation of everything I do, both personally and professionally. I try to lead with kindness, compassion, and understanding, and I think that’s reflected in the way I run my business. At the end of the day, weddings are celebrations of love, so it feels fitting that love is also the value that guides my life.
