Conversations with Jordan Koslovsky

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Koslovsky

Hi Jordan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Like quite a few others, I carved out this little corner in the beginnings of 2020. A stay at home mother trying to find a creative outlet for myself. I started out just painting random things and posting them on my Instagram stories for fun. Eventually, it somehow transformed into a business!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As with any small business, it’s definitely come with its challenges. I am completely self-taught so that is a challenge within itself! Learning different techniques and terms, as well as figuring out what works and doesn’t work has been – and continues to be – a process. That paired with the woes of a growing business and juggling being a mother to three small children. It’s a happy struggle though, for sure! If you would have told me five years ago that I would be where I am now, I most certainly would not have believed it!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a self-taught artist primarily working with watercolor and acrylic, but love exploring new mediums. I enjoy working in fine detail, which is what I believe sets me apart. From hand painted heirloom-style ornaments to uniquely crafted florals, no detail is overlooked. I see each piece as an opportunity to combine my love for color, texture, and design, whether on canvas, paper, or an ornament.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
This may not be a surprise to those super close to me, but I am actually deeply introverted. Building out my brand has definitely pushed me so far out of my comfort zone that sometimes I forget that I am indeed an introvert. I have put myself out there in ways I never would have imagined myself doing. I’ve cold called galleries, went on a retreat for creatives where I didn’t know a single person, and have given out hundreds of business cards to strangers while making small talk. But, in real life, there is nothing I love more than being a homebody. My ideal day would be waking up, enjoying my coffee, spend the day painting, and ordering pizza and watching a movie with my family before an early bedtime.
