Conversations with Kalee Rodriguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kalee Rodriguez.

Hi Kalee, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story is one of transformation—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

In 2022, my life changed when I broke my neck in a freak accident. It was terrifying, painful, and incredibly humbling. The recovery process was intense—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally, too. I was forced to slow down in every way, and in that stillness, I had to face what I really wanted out of life.

That experience became a huge wake-up call for me. I realized how quickly everything can change, and I started asking myself: If not now, then when? I’d always dreamed of doing something creative, something that allowed me to connect with others, bring joy, and build something that felt uniquely mine—but I had been holding back, waiting for the “right time.”

So, I stopped waiting.

That’s when DetailsxKeeks was born—a space where I could pour my love for personal touches, celebration, and creativity into custom gifts, event details, and unforgettable moments. At the same time, I started posting more consistently online, showing up as my true self, and slowly building a brand that reflects my personality and passions. I even made the decision to get my Pilates instructor certification—something that once felt like a “maybe one day” dream.

Now I get to blend everything I love: wellness, creativity, connection, and showing up for others—and myself—in a way that feels aligned and fulfilling. It’s been a journey, but breaking my neck genuinely gave me the courage to take action, trust my vision, and stop playing small. I’m just getting started, and I can’t wait to see where this all leads.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—but I’m honestly grateful for that now. The challenges have shaped me just as much, if not more, than the wins.

Breaking my neck in 2022 was obviously one of the biggest and scariest obstacles I’ve ever faced. It forced me to slow down, reevaluate everything, and rebuild—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. That healing process came with a lot of tears, fear, frustration, and deep reflection. It stripped away so much of who I thought I was and made room for who I was truly becoming.

Starting a business and stepping into content creation hasn’t been easy either. There’s so much self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and behind-the-scenes work that people don’t always see. I’ve had moments where I questioned if I was doing enough, if I was good enough, or if I was crazy for chasing such big dreams. Balancing a full-time job while trying to grow DetailsxKeeks, plan a wedding, show up online, and pursue a Pilates certification has definitely tested me—but it’s also taught me how strong, capable, and resourceful I really am.

One of the biggest ongoing struggles has been learning how to organize my thoughts and plans without getting overwhelmed. I’m a creative at heart, so sometimes my ideas come faster than I can execute them—but I’m learning to give myself grace, take it one step at a time, and just keep going. Every setback has taught me something valuable, and I wouldn’t change the journey. It’s made me more grounded, faithful, and aligned with my purpose than ever before.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m the founder of DetailsxKeeks, a brand that specializes in custom event details, personalized gifting, and curated moments that make people feel celebrated and seen. From bachelorette parties and bridesmaid gifts to custom merch and lifestyle gifting, I help bring my clients’ visions to life with thoughtful, aesthetic touches that elevate any occasion.

Outside of that, I also work full-time in the corporate world as a Recruiting Associate at Aya Healthcare, managing over 90+ working travelers and helping nurses and medical professionals find placements across the country. I’ve spent the last few years in recruiting and client support roles, building strong relationships and developing a deep understanding of people, communication, and strategy—all of which play a huge part in how I run my business today.

I also share my lifestyle and entrepreneurial journey on TikTok and social media, creating content around everything from healing my skin and becoming a certified Pilates instructor to morning routines, wellness habits, and day-in-the-life vlogs. I love showing the balance of chasing dreams, building a business, and still showing up as your best self—one step at a time.

What sets me apart is the heart and hustle behind it all. I wear a lot of hats—corporate professional, business owner, content creator, future Pilates instructor—but I bring the same passion and purpose to each one. I’m known for my attention to detail, my creative touch, and my ability to make people feel seen and celebrated—whether that’s through a custom gift, a brand collab, or a piece of content that resonates.

I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve built something meaningful out of a tough season in my life. After breaking my neck in 2022, I made a promise to stop waiting and start doing. That decision completely changed the trajectory of my life, and I’m just getting started.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that life doesn’t wait—so neither should you.

For a long time, I kept putting things off, telling myself I’d start “one day” when things felt more stable, more perfect, more clear. But breaking my neck in 2022 changed everything. It reminded me how quickly life can shift and how important it is to stop waiting for the “right time” to go after the things that light you up.

I’ve learned that healing—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual—isn’t linear. It takes patience, grace, and a whole lot of self-love. I’ve learned that you can be overwhelmed and still show up. You can feel scared and still take the leap. And most of all, I’ve learned that you don’t have to have it all figured out to start—you just have to start.

Every step forward, even the messy or imperfect ones, add up. And trusting myself, even when the vision feels bigger than me, has made all the difference.
