Today we’d like to introduce you to Maddie Hoelscher.
Maddie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always been creative since I was very young. I drew, painted, junk journaling, sewing, photography, everything. In high school I was experimenting with different hobbies. I bought a leather starter kit from Hobby Lobby with a swivel knife, a handful of stamps, and leather. These were the days before Tiktok and Youtube tutorials so there was a lot of trial and error. Figuring out my mistakes and trying again. I slowly started making small items for friends and family. That slowly snowballed into their friends and family ordering something. Over the years I kept honing in on the craft and gaining skill and techniques.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The economy in the recent years following Covid has been unpredictable and unstable. The rising cost of absolutely everything has put a strain on customers wallets and has caused customers to think twice before buying retail.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started out by making mostly men’s items. Men’s wallets, belts, etc. But over the past several years I have moved into the women’s accessories category. I have always loved carrying purses and love the personality that someone’s purse can show.
In my spare time I love watching fashion shows on Youtube and studying upcoming trends and styles.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The recent years have been hot for western style. The mainstream has embraced western accessories have become a staple in people’s closets. Especially with the rapid population growth in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, people are really leaning into the western way of life. I look forward to the upcoming years of fashion in the area with so many more styles of fashion moving into the area and becoming more of a melting pot of different styles and aesthetics.
