Today we’d like to introduce you to Marilu Villegas.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Photography started as a creative passion and slowly became something much bigger for me. I’ve always loved capturing emotions, details, and moments that tell a story. Starting a photography business also requires investing in equipment, developing technical skills, mastering editing, and finding ways to stand out creatively.
What started with small sessions and practicing at home has grown into building my own photography brand. I specialize in portraits, graduation, maternity, and creative sessions, and I love helping people feel confident and beautiful in front of the camera.
Today, I continue growing both creatively and professionally, constantly learning new techniques and working toward building a strong presence in the photography industry.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was learning everything mostly on my own while trying to build confidence in my work and style. Starting a photography business also requires investing in equipment, and finding ways to stand out creatively.
Another challenge was building a studio setup with limited space and resources at the beginning. However, those experiences pushed me to become more creative and resourceful. Over time, I’ve continued improving my skills, building my portfolio, and growing both personally and professionally through every session and experience.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in portrait photography, including graduation, maternity, creative, and lifestyle sessions. I love creating images that feel emotional, elegant, and visually impactful while helping people feel confident in front of the camera.
One thing I’m most proud of is building my photography style and growing my brand through creativity, consistency, and hard work. Even with limited space at the beginning, I learned how to create professional-looking images and studio-style setups that reflect my artistic vision.
What sets me apart is my attention to detail, editing style, and the way I combine emotion, composition and storytelling to create photographs that feel personal and unique to each client.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
People can work with me by booking portrait, graduation, maternity, and creative photography sessions. I also enjoy collaborating with brands, creatives, and small businesses to create visual content that feels authentic and artistic.
One of the best ways to support my work is by sharing my photography, engaging with my content, and recommending my services to others. I’m always excited to connect with people who value creativity, storytelling, and meaningful imagery.
