Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Reeder.
Hi Nick, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a military veteran and former Radio industry executive. My wife and I had been eager to become entrepreneurs so that we could have more control of our time and create some financial stability for our future. After years in radio and Keisha being in the medical field for years. We jump on the opportunity to bring something that is delicious and health-conscious to our community with Frios Gourmet Pops. We service the whole Dallas area, bringing an unexpected moment of happiness to each event that we attend. We love engaging the community and helping other small business grow and become successful.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
This business has had some challenges, introducing people to ice cream in a different form has been a challenge at times. But once someone taste our pops, we almost always get the same reaction which is a smile. We are working hard to introduce people to something new and different, something better than a cup of ice with syrup and something just as tasty as an ice cream sundae, only it’s on a stick.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have been an event planner and director for over ten years. I started in the wedding industry, dj-ing wedding and helping to plan and coordinate them. I also work as a promotion and marketing director for year for Salem Media group. I have put on large-scale outdoor concert events, to political engagements, and numerous family fun event throughout the metroplex. I am proud of the experiences that I have been able to provide to people. Allowing them to see their favorite artist for the first time or helping families who were struggling to receive some relief. What set me apart from other is my determination to help others. I think that my ability to give what I have to see other become better or successful has always allowed me to become better and successful. You can’t give unless you have to give, and I always strive to do things with the right purpose in heart.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Growing up in New York City, I got to spend a week at a special camp for low-income children. They allowed us to stay with a family in upstate New York; for me, it was a chance to see that the world was so different then what I was being exposed to. There were opportunities and chances out there that at the time, I didn’t know existed. I stayed with a family who didn’t look like me, neither came from where I was from, but loved me and took care of me as if I were their own. It really showed me the good in people and I will cherish that time for the rest of my life.
