Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Alexandria.
Hi Paige, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
As a little girl, I’ve always been a creative and very into fashion. On everything I drew as a kid, I would sign it at the bottom “passion for fashion.” My grandma has been a seamstress her whole life and designed and made pieces like my outfits, her wedding dress after spending a lot of time with her, I developed the same heart for fashion as well. Fast forward to today, I still enjoy sketching pieces, I launched a clothing boutique in the beginning of the pandemic that I am rebranding, I am a content creator, micro-influencer, blogger, a newly website designer and I do content management for 2 small businesses and a profit organization. I don’t have a crazy story as to how I got started. I just took a leap of faith and went for it. I was calling myself an influencer before brands saw me as an influencer. I so enjoy putting things together and making it beautiful whether it’s when I’m designing a site for a client or styling my outfits for myself and my friends.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been smooth. It can be very difficult to stay consistent if do not have a strategy to execute. I am also a full-time nanny so it can be very complicated with my hands in so many things at once. A struggle when first launching my boutique was trying to please everyone by seeing what styles they liked instead centering it around my style and also feeling like my prices were too high. Well, I quickly learned in the middle of my rebrand to be confident in my brand and that the people who have a similar style to me will be my customers and to know my value and not lower my prices for anyone.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am very known for being creative and knowing how to piece things together, from outfits to designing a nursery. People trust me in so many areas of creativity that I get to have the opportunity to help others bring their vision to life. People in high school would text me their outfits and asked if it looked nice and people still til this day continue to do so. I am most proud of my bravery. I come from a town where most people are comfortable with their lives and have never left the city limits and I love that I always want more out of this life than to just work to get by but to thrive and do what I love all while getting paid to do so. What sets me apart from others is how unique I am. When it comes to fashion, one day I may be in baggy pants with heels and the next I’m in a classy dress with sneakers that just do not make sense.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
Yes, my advice would be to just do it and to make your fear of not going after your dreams greater than the fear of actually doing them. Have a reason why, I remind yourself and do little things every day to make your dream a reality. Your purpose and destiny is connected to someone else’s so don’t hold up the line, the world needs to see what you have to put out. I wish I would’ve known how important it is to have a mentor who’s already walked in your shoes and done the work to get to where you would like to be, simply because it is very needed to have people who are doing better than you that could show you the way.
