Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Peppers.
Hi Robert, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been performing as a stand-up comedian for nearly five years and I love it. I started on my 31st birthday on November 16, 2016, going to the Arlington Improv Open Mic and from that moment, I knew that comedy was my calling. Afterwards, I started going continuously to open mic night. By the spring of 2017, opportunity after opportunity started coming my way and since then, I have performed at the Arlington Improv, Dallas Fort Worth and Plano Hyenas. Furthermore, I have performed in Durant, Oklahoma, at Sports City Cafe as well as emceed out in Little Rock, Arkansas at the Loony Bin in 2018 and 2019. 2020 put me on a major setback due to the Covid 19 pandemic, but 2021 has been great and has helped me get back out there to doing what I love. Saturday, May 8, I will be performing at Hyenas Fort Worth and Saturday, May 29, I will be performing at Rack and Tap in Lewisville, Texas. I love the challenges and the reward of doing stand up as well as the support of my family wife of seven years of marriage, our nine-year-old son, my mother, my sister and my niece as well as many others. The ultimate goal is to keep doing stand up and do movies but also help others who want to make it in comedy.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The only struggle is getting booked at a certain venue because in the work of entertainment, it’s not what you know. A lot of it is who you know.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a stand-up comedian, I do this on the side and this is the long-term goal, for a living. I work at DFW Airport for Airport Security, I have been working there for seven years. What I am most proud of is where comedy has brought me so far and the doors it has opened for me. The one thing that sets me apart from everyone else is that I am willing to stand out and I will get on stage and talk more so about my family life moreover anything else.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
God, family, and comedy because those are the three things that are a part of me and without any of those, I have nothing and there is no me.
