Today we’d like to introduce you to Simrat Singh.
Hi Simrat, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been drawn to language, words, and the way they create intimacy. Words are powerful, especially in moments people cherish so deeply. It’s a privilege to create pieces that declare something lasting, whether it is a couple’s names, a phrase, a memory, or a feeling they want carried through their wedding day.
I’ve also always loved making things with my hands. I love being able to touch a material, work with it, and watch it become another version of itself while honoring its integrity. Gathurr grew from that intersection: language, design, materiality, and emotion. It became a way for me to take words, typography, texture, shape, and physical materials, and turn them into something intimate for one of the most significant days in someone’s life.
Signage is an integral part of creating the emotional atmosphere of a wedding. It guides guests through the day, but it also holds memory. It becomes part of the wedding’s visual language, a physical manifestation of a modern archive of devotion. It’s the most obvious exclamation that says, “this is who and what we’re here for.”
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t describe the road as perfectly smooth, but I’ve come to see the learning itself as part of the beauty of the work.
There is a humility in learning how different people express love through different mediums, and how much they are willing to express in any given environment.
The language of love changes from couple to couple, and it’s such an honor to spend time with couples and learn about those little moments of connection and how they want it to be shown. Sometimes it is quiet and subtle. I get to see how that tiny piece connects with all parts of their wedding and how, for one day or many days, that feeling is transposed into a visual and auditory experience.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Gathurr is a design-forward wedding studio creating signage, décor, and planning tools for couples who want their wedding to feel personal, meticulous, and intimate.
We create pieces that use words, typography, texture, shape, and color to help tell the story of a wedding. The work lives at the intersection of language, materiality, and emotional atmosphere. Sometimes that looks like a welcome sign, a seating chart, or an audio guestbook sign. Other times, it is a smaller detail that quietly carries meaning throughout the day.
What I care about most is how each piece contributes to the feeling of the environment. Wedding signage is functional, but it is also deeply emotional. It tells guests where to go, but it also declares who and what everyone is gathered for. That balance between utility and intimacy is where I feel most connected to the work.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
The best way to work with Gathurr is to visit our website or reach out directly. Couples can explore our wedding signage, décor, and planning tools, from custom welcome signs and seating charts to bar signage, detail pieces, and planning resources that help bring the day together.
I also love collaborating with planners, designers, photographers, venues, and other creatives who care about how details shape an experience. I am especially drawn to partnerships where there is a shared respect for beauty and intimacy in all their forms, as well as the language, materials, and details that create the atmosphere.
The best way to support Gathurr is to follow along, share the work, send it to a couple or planner who may resonate with it, or keep us in mind when someone is creating a wedding experience that deserves to feel beautifully considered from beginning to end.
