Today we’d like to introduce you to The Candle Company.
Hi The Candle Company, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
To be honest, we all met through a facebook group for musicians. We all clicked pretty quick and enjoyed similar music— not super glamorous but it’s our story!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Things haven’t always gone smoothly. Sometimes we pay for venue parking just to play to completely empty rooms, so that’s obviously not ideal! One time Maggy’s bass broke right before a set and a very generous member of Super Nothing let her borrow his. At one gig, Blake had to figure out how to play on a child-sized drumset because the band that brought the backline was made up of kids (they killed it by the way!) It’s been a bumpy road, but it’s a road worth taking.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are an indie rock band based in Dallas, TX. We’d describe our original music as is fun and witty, and it gets people moving on the dance floor. We are most proud of the way we have been able to collaborate musically to create something that feels personal to all of us. You can really hear everyone’s unique voice within the songs, and we think that’s pretty special.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
To us, music is all about risk. We took the risk of meeting random people on Facebook. We took the risk of putting our music out there, even though some people might not like it. We pretty much never know how many people are going to show up to our shows, or whether the people who do show up will ever listen to us again once they leave, but we play anyways. We love what we do, and to us, the reward is usually worth the risk.
