Today we’d like to introduce you to Vinson Miller.
Vinson, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in Arlington, Texas, with my mom. I attended a private elementary school called Merryhill, where I met some great childhood friends, and many of us are still friends to this day.
After graduating from sixth grade and moving on to seventh grade, I attended Harmony. I had to transfer there because I was being bullied for making the basketball team. I know it sounds crazy when I say it out loud, but that’s genuinely what happened. Later that same year, I transferred to another school called Nichols. It was one of the craziest schools I’ve ever attended, but I made it through and graduated.
My mom and I then moved to Mansfield, and I finally gained some freedom after feeling so restricted socially during seventh grade. Living in Mansfield made me happy because I was able to have fun and make a lot of friends. Unfortunately, I became so focused on enjoying myself that I neglected school. I struggled academically from eighth through ninth grade and had to attend summer school twice because I wasn’t focused on my education.
Everything changed during my sophomore year of high school when COVID hit. The lockdown gave me time to reflect on my life and think about what I truly wanted for my future. I had been playing football since eighth grade, but I never took it seriously until then. Something just clicked. I realized that if I wanted to become a great player and create opportunities for myself, I had to put in the work. Otherwise, I would be overlooked like any other average player.
While everyone was at home and uncertainty surrounded when we’d return to school, I hired a trainer and committed myself to improving. I worked hard so that when my junior year arrived, I would be more than ready to make a name for myself and earn a varsity spot.
When practices finally resumed, I didn’t make varsity. Instead, I was placed on the JV-A team. At the time, I viewed it as a major disappointment because I had worked so hard for seven months and was convinced I had done enough. To make matters more difficult, I came into summer practices as a slot receiver and was moved to running back.
I felt like I had failed. I was upset because I hadn’t trained for that position and didn’t initially see the move as a positive. After talking with my mom and dad, however, they helped me see things differently. They explained the value of being versatile on the football field and how playing multiple positions could create more opportunities and attract more attention from coaches.
I went on to have a great junior year, and my senior season was just as rewarding. Although I suffered a season-ending injury, I was still able to put together quality film, earn awards, and leave a lasting impact on my school. I was honored to receive the Special Teams Player of the Year Award as well as the Billy Smith Eagle Heart Award. Knowing that my coaches and teammates recognized the work I had put in meant a lot to me. Receiving an award named after a beloved coach who passed away from cancer made it even more meaningful.
After graduating from high school, I attended University of North Texas, where I reconnected with old friends and met many new people. Currently, I am out of school due to personal financial circumstances and am focused on finding my path in content creation. My goal is to build a career by creating videos, working with brands, and growing platforms on YouTube, Twitch, Instagram, and TikTok. I also want to pursue modeling more seriously.
My ultimate dream is to make it to the NFL. However, if I can build a successful career in content creation, I would be grateful for that opportunity as well. More than anything, I want my ideas, creativity, and work ethic to be seen. It can be frustrating at times to work so hard and feel like you’re not getting the results you deserve while watching others succeed with seemingly less effort. Still, I remain committed to my goals. At the end of the day, I simply want to be successful and create a better life for my family.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No not really I’ve been over looked with whatever I decided to take seriously. I am sick of it happening because I truly work hard for the things I want such as football but even in creating content I just feel like no one sees my worth. I just want to be successful, make money, and truly know that my talents and work ethic don’t go unnoticed.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a very fit/strong person I’ve been told multiple times that my physique is crazy and most of the guys I see/meet in the gym all say they want a physique like mine. So I am known for being the hard working, buff, ambitious guy no what the task is but if it involves working out or content creation my friends and others know I work hard to produce good content and get better on the field.
I haven’t been able to accomplish much after highschool because of the circumstances I’ve been in but I’m most proud of myself for keeping my head down and still striving to achieve my dreams because i know that most people would’ve quit by now so that fuels me to keep going knowing I can and knowing I won’t quit til I have everything I want and more.
My work ethic sets my apart from
most because a lot of people say they want something but they won’t put in the worth for it. I always put my all into what I do because if I don’t i know I won’t see my full potential.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My mom Carleta Miller has always held me down I can’t wait til I can truly pay her back for all she’s done but i know it will never be enough.
My dad Vinson Miller Sr. for actually being there for me when I did truly need him. His advice has kept my up just like my moms.
My trainer Gary Anderson Jr. he’s the first ever coach/trainer to see my work ethic and push me to heights I didn’t know I had we ended up pushing each other in whatever he had us doing because he believed in me and still does to this day.
My homeboys , Chris, Feaster, Holt, Kam, Corey, Sultan, Mason, Keanan, Jammal, and more all my guys are true genuine dudes and they deserve everything and then some.
