Daily Inspiration: Meet Carmen Edwards

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmen Edwards.

Hi Carmen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Carmen Edwards, and my journey has been shaped by faith, perseverance, and a desire to help others. I became a licensed cosmetologist in 2008 after earning my license in Kansas City, Missouri, where I was born and raised. About 16 years ago, I moved to Texas and eventually opened my own salon in Greenville, where I built a career helping people feel confident and beautiful.

Education has always been important to me. I earned my high school diploma in Dallas, Texas, in 2015 and later completed studies in substance abuse and mental health counseling. Those experiences strengthened my passion for encouraging and supporting people through life’s challenges.

In addition to being a hairstylist and entrepreneur, I am also the author of three books. I have a passion for fashion, business, and helping others discover their potential. One of the most rewarding parts of my life has been opening my home and heart to foster girls and mentoring young women. Being able to provide support, encouragement, and stability during important seasons of their lives has been a true blessing.

Today, I find myself in a season of growth and transition. While I no longer work from a traditional salon and now work from a home-based space, I am seeking God’s direction for what comes next. I believe every chapter of my life has prepared me for a greater purpose. My faith is the foundation of everything I do, and I know I would not be where I am today without God’s grace and guidance.

Looking back, I am grateful for the journey—from Missouri to Texas, from hairstylist to author, entrepreneur, mentor, and foster parent. My goal is to continue serving others, making a positive impact, and following wherever God leads me next

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
“It hasn’t been smooth. People look at you and think you have it all together, but they don’t see the behind-the-scenes struggles—like having to leave my last shop for financial reasons.
Still, through 18 years doing hair, every challenge taught me who I truly am beneath the surface. I don’t regret the struggles; they gave me the strength to become the woman God is calling me to be.”

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a hairstylist fashion stylist and I’m so grateful to have an opportunity to work with the ladies. I have work with some can say I’m known as doing Bob hairstyles. I’m in space now trying to learn different things to add to my portfolio. What makes me stand out. I’m a say for me. I love people and ladies sit in my chair and tell me their story. It allows me to be the hand in the feet of God.

What matters most to you? Why?
If you would’ve asked this question a long time ago would’ve been a different story but today what matters most to me now to raise up disciples, to make sure that I’m filling my cup up every single day so I won’t operate on an empty spirit
