Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Colbert.
Hi Dominique, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started doing social media back when I was 12 years old. I joined Twitter after begging my parents for an account and the rest is history.
After I graduated high school back in 2020, I had the opportunity to join a non profit’s marketing team creating videos for their account. I also was able to land a partnership with a big company which was the start of my interest in marketing. I recenlty graduated with my master’s degree back in Decemeber with a concentration in social media and have been working trying to start my own social media management/talent agency business.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Getting the degree was pretty easy but trying to balance working full time and putting time into my desired side buisness has been astruggle. I love being in front of the camera but I also love being behind it as well. It’s hard to piych myself in a video because I talk a lot and then have to cut it down into 30 secodns to one minute.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
In my day to day life, I currently work at a non profit who works to help high school students go to college and bridge that gap. I love my job and I’m acutally back in school working towards my Doctorate in Education. When I’m not at work, I’m working toward studying to get my real estate license and building my social media management buisness. I love to pitch other creators to buinesses and manage buisnesses posts. I’m most proud of my experince and ability to connect with others.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I feel like my attention to detail and semi outgoing nature is very important to my success. I love asking questions to get the full picture. I’m a student of the world as they say. Although I tend to be more on the shy side, I will be more outgoing depending on the circumstances.
