Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Golden.
Hi Emily, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my photography career in 2010, shortly after graduating college with a BAAS and a focus in business. While my education was rooted in business, my true passion has always been people. Photography became the perfect way to bring that passion to life, and it quickly grew into a career that I deeply love and feel incredibly grateful for.
Over the years, I’ve built my business through consistency, time efficiency, and investing in excellent gear that allows me to deliver high-quality work under pressure. My superpower is time management, which is especially important in the fast-paced world of weddings. I also rely heavily on my family as my backbone, always ready to support me behind the scenes. I am a hopeless romantic at heart and truly love love—being able to witness and document such meaningful moments for my couples is what makes this work so fulfilling.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been very smooth. I take so many precautions and make allowances for the what ifs. The hardest part of my career is waiting until my clients call me again! I’ve been shooting long enough to have gone full circle. I have a few clients that started as senior picture sessions and I’ve now shot their wedding and family pictures as they start their own families!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Photographer. I don’t take shortcuts when it comes to quality and effort. I’m going to work just as hard for my little sessions as I do my biggest wedding. ALL memories matter!
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Meet as many people in the field as you can. You never know when you’ll need someone to bounce an idea off of or just have someone in the industry to talk to.
