Today we’d like to introduce you to JANVI SHAHI.
JANVI, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story really started when I was very young. I was diagnosed with leukemia at two and a half, and a big part of my childhood was spent in treatment. During that time, Make-A-Wish gave me the chance to go to Disney World, which became one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. It gave me joy, hope, and a moment to just feel like a kid again.
After I relapsed and went through treatment again, I was introduced to art as a form of therapy. What started as a way to express how I was feeling slowly became one of my biggest passions. Over time, I began selling my artwork and donating the proceeds back to Make-A-Wish so other children could experience the same kind of hope I was given. That eventually helped raise over $200,000 for the organization by the time I graduated from high school.
Art and design have been the thread that carried me from that chapter of my life to where I am today. I went on to study graphic design and UX/UI design at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and I’ve continued building a career around creativity, storytelling, and using design to make people feel something. My journey has taught me resilience, gratitude, and the importance of turning difficult experiences into something meaningful for others. Since then, my passion has always been to help others towards their dreams with my art and design, just like art and design helped me.
After graduating from SCAD in 2021, I worked in corporate for 5 years and learned so much about marketing. I got work on clients like Sam’s Club, AT&T, and Disney. I realized I found true meaning in my work, however, by helping small businesses that are trying to reach their dreams but needed a helping hand with marketing so they could shine in what they truly wanted their business to show. So I decided to start my own marketing company called JS Studios.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. A big part of my childhood was spent trying to balance school while going through cancer treatment. While other kids were focused on classes, friendships, and normal milestones, I was also dealing with hospital visits, treatments, recovery, and just trying to keep up. School was difficult because I was constantly having to push through things most people around me couldn’t fully understand.
Later, COVID brought another unexpected challenge. It affected everything — school, work opportunities, networking, and the way people were starting their careers. After that, finding a job was not easy. Breaking into the design industry took patience, persistence, and a lot of learning how to handle rejection while still believing in myself.
Once I entered the corporate world, I faced a new set of struggles. I had to learn how to advocate for myself, navigate workplace expectations, prove my value, and stay creative in environments that were not always easy or flexible. Those experiences taught me a lot, but they also showed me that I wanted to build something of my own.
Now, at 27, starting a startup company has been one of the hardest but most rewarding challenges so far. There is no clear roadmap. I’m learning how to manage clients, build a brand, make business decisions, stay consistent, and trust myself through uncertainty. It’s challenging, but every stage of my life has prepared me to keep going, adapt, and turn obstacles into growth.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work has always been rooted in creativity, storytelling, and purpose. Before JS Studios, one of the biggest parts of my journey was using art to give back. After my experience with Make-A-Wish as a child, I started creating and selling my artwork to raise money for the organization. Over time, that work helped raise over $200,000 for Make-A-Wish, which is something I will always be incredibly proud of. It showed me that creativity can do more than just look beautiful — it can create impact, connection, and hope.
Today, through JS Studios, I help businesses bring their brand to life visually. I specialize in **graphic design, social media content, branding, marketing materials, content planning, reels, and creative direction**. A lot of my work is focused on helping small businesses look polished, consistent, and professional online — whether that’s through Instagram and Facebook posts, flyers, promotional graphics, brand visuals, or content shoots.
What I’m most proud of is that my work is not just about making something look good. I care about the story behind it, the feeling it creates, and whether it actually helps the client connect with their audience. I think what sets me apart is my ability to combine design with emotion and strategy. I understand how to make content feel personal, clean, and intentional—not just trendy.
At the heart of everything I do, I want my work to feel human. Whether I’m designing for a nonprofit, a boutique, a local business, or a personal brand, my goal is always to create something meaningful that helps people feel seen, remembered, and connected.
No matter what challenge I faced, some part of me knew what was right path. I believe that having a strong community around me of friends, family, and support I was really able to push all the negativity out and just really hone in on what mattered to me about how I wanted to use my talent to give back to the community in some way shape or form.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising that people may not know about me is how hard I am on myself. From the outside, people may just see the final design, the finished post, or the polished brand visuals—but behind the scenes, I put a lot of pressure on myself to make sure every detail feels right.
I care deeply about the experience my clients have with JS Studios. I don’t just want them to receive good work; I want them to feel understood, supported, and excited about what we create together. I take that responsibility very seriously because I know how much trust it takes for someone to hand over their brand, vision, or business to another creative.
I’m always thinking about how I can make the process better, clearer, and more meaningful for them. Whether that means reworking a design, finding a better idea, or going the extra mile to make sure the final result feels amazing, I’m willing to do what it takes. I think that level of care is a big part of who I am, even if people don’t always see it.
