Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Wagner.
Hi Jennifer, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I met my husband, artist Alan Alldredge in 2009. Being in a studio surrounded by a wealth of materials, I became curious about learning to paint or learning a craft that I could make my own. After a few years of instruction and guidance under Alan, we came up with a style and process that I began to genuinely enjoy.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say no. I came into this with zero artistic background. There was of course the learning curve and life, well- doing what it does.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love linearity and slow, thoughtfully meticulous processes. This is how I ended up painting grids. There is something calming in the whole process. I thoroughly enjoy these paintings from beginning to end. There is a quiet meditation in each step.
I’m incredibly proud that I was able to learn such a thing, let alone end up in galleries with literally zero background in the arts. I’m always so happy to see someone excited to receive something *I* made. I put a ton of personal touch into every single work of art that comes out of my studio.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I am a huge fan of solitude and personal space, however sharing my work means the absolute world to me!
