Hi Kalisha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my jewelry-making journey in 2002 after learning the craft from my cousin’s aunt, who worked for a company called Barse. She introduced me to the basics of jewelry design and creation, which sparked my interest in the art. From there, I continued developing my skills, learning techniques such as wire wrapping and gaining a deeper understanding of jewelry design. Over time, I expanded my experience creating a variety of pieces, including bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. What started as a learning opportunity grew into a passion for designing unique, handcrafted jewelry that reflects both creativity and craftsmanship.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been both a smooth and challenging journey. One of the biggest learning experiences was understanding the many different types of beads and embellishments used in jewelry making, such as agates, druzy, CZ pavé, tiger’s eye beads, and other specialty materials. Customers often want to know the details about what they are purchasing, so it was important for me to learn about the materials and their unique qualities.
Another challenge was learning how to properly secure necklaces, bracelets, and other jewelry pieces to ensure they are durable and long-lasting. Understanding which materials and techniques work best has helped me create quality pieces that customers can enjoy for years. While there has been a learning curve along the way, each challenge has helped me grow as a jewelry designer and improve my craft.

I specialize in creating handcrafted jewelry, including bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. My work is driven by both creativity and attention to detail. I am a perfectionist when it comes to my designs, and I take pride in ensuring that each piece is thoughtfully crafted and finished to a high standard.
What sets me apart is my commitment to continuous improvement and creativity. I am always exploring new design ideas, experimenting with different styles, and studying color combinations that work well together. I enjoy finding unique ways to blend materials, textures, and colors to create pieces that are both beautiful and distinctive.
What I am most proud of is my ability to turn creative ideas into wearable art while maintaining quality and craftsmanship. Every piece I create reflects my passion for jewelry design and my desire to offer something unique that customers can enjoy and feel confident wearing.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is spending time with my cousins at my uncle’s house and watching The Wiz. It was a special time because we were all together, laughing, enjoying the movie, and making memories as a family. Looking back, those moments of togetherness, fun, and connection are what make that memory so meaningful to me.
