Today we’d like to introduce you to Luvir Marie Lugo Irizarry.
Hi Luvir Marie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey began around 2017–2018 when I was living in Puerto Rico and working in science as a proteomics scientist. I have a background in industrial microbiology, and I was at a strong point in my career when everything changed after Hurricane Maria.
My husband received a job opportunity in Texas, and we made the decision to relocate. I left my career behind and started over completely in a new place.
That transition was one of the most challenging seasons of my life. I went from a very structured, fast-paced scientific career to being a full-time mom, and adjusting to that new identity took time.
I’ve always been a creative person, especially when it comes to decorating and design, so during that season I started looking for something that would help me reconnect with that part of myself. That’s when I created my page and launched a small handbag business, which later evolved into designing and making my own pieces.
When the pandemic hit, everything shifted again — materials became difficult to source, my kids were homeschooling, and I eventually had to pause the business. I didn’t want to lose the platform I had built, so I started sharing my home and daily life instead.
That content unexpectedly resonated with people, and over time it naturally evolved into home decor and lifestyle storytelling.
In 2022, buying my home became a turning point, and from there my platform fully transformed into what it is today — a space where I share creativity, home, and real life in a very intentional and authentic way.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. My journey has been full of transitions and unexpected challenges.
One of the biggest struggles was leaving my career in science. I was at a strong point professionally, and stepping away from that identity was emotionally difficult. Adjusting to a completely new life in a new place while becoming a full-time mom was a major shift.
Another challenge came when I started my small business. While it grew successfully, the pandemic created instability — from supply chain issues to homeschooling my kids for over a year. Eventually, I had to pause that chapter, which was not easy after investing so much into it.
On top of that, I’ve had to learn how to reinvent myself more than once. Each transition required letting go of something familiar and stepping into uncertainty, which was not always comfortable.
More recently, my diagnosis with multiple sclerosis has added another layer of challenges, but it has also reshaped my perspective and strengthened my resilience in ways I didn’t expect.
Looking back, the road hasn’t been smooth, but each experience has shaped who I am today and guided me toward a more intentional and authentic path.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work lives at the intersection of creativity, storytelling, and intentional living. I create content focused on home decor and lifestyle, where I share my personal spaces, design process, and the evolution of my home in an authentic way.
I specialize in turning everyday living into something meaningful and visually intentional. My audience connects with the way I approach home design — not just as aesthetics, but as a reflection of life, change, and personal growth.
I’m known for a very hands-on and personal approach. I don’t just showcase finished spaces; I share the process, the decisions behind them, and the real life that happens in between.
What I’m most proud of is how my platform evolved organically through very different chapters of my life — from science, to entrepreneurship, to motherhood, and now content creation — while staying true to who I am.
What sets me apart is my background and perspective. I come from a scientific career in microbiology and proteomics, which gave me a detail-oriented and intentional mindset, but I’ve combined that with creativity and storytelling. My journey hasn’t been linear, and that’s exactly what makes my work feel real and relatable.
More recently, my diagnosis with multiple sclerosis has added a deeper layer to my perspective, shaping the way I approach life, creativity, and presence. At the core, my work remains centered on authenticity, design, and storytelling.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is that life doesn’t always follow the plan you envision, but that doesn’t mean you lose your purpose.
For many years, I strongly identified with my career in science, and I believed that would be my long-term path. However, life led me through unexpected transitions — a relocation, motherhood, a career shift, and entrepreneurship — that required me to reinvent myself more than once.
In each season, I had to learn how to let go of one version of myself in order to grow into the next, and that process was not always easy. There were moments of uncertainty, of feeling like I was starting over, and of questioning my identity.
Over time, I came to understand that success is not about having a linear path, but about learning how to adapt without losing your essence.
More recently, my diagnosis with multiple sclerosis has deepened that lesson even further. It has taught me to live with more presence, to value my energy differently, and to understand that resilience is not just about pushing through, but about moving forward with intention even in uncertainty.
Today, I no longer see my life in terms of what was left behind, but in terms of everything it has been building toward.
