Today we’d like to introduce you to Meredith King.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi! I am Meredith King, I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. After graduating high school (JJ Pearce) in 2019, I decided that college wasn’t the right path for me. Around the same time, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and over the next few years, I found myself feeling stuck. Between 2019 and 2022, I gained a significant amount of weight, struggled to find stability in my career, and watched my confidence reach an all-time low. My health was beginning to show warning signs, and I was surrounding myself with relationships and environments that were no longer serving me.
In March 2022, I was hospitalized for 10 days after being diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease. That experience became a turning point in my life. I knew something had to change.
After meeting with my doctor, I was prescribed Ozempic and decided to give it a try. Over the course of five months, I lost about 30 pounds by making healthier choices and improving my eating habits. While the medication helped me get started, I ultimately chose to stop taking it because I didn’t want to rely on it long-term. Instead, I committed to building sustainable habits. I cut back on processed foods, started walking every day, and focused on creating a healthier lifestyle that I could maintain.
By May 2023, I had gone from 200 pounds to 120 pounds. More importantly, I had gained confidence, discipline, and a belief in myself that I had never experienced before.
As my health improved, I began focusing on my career. I applied to hundreds of jobs across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, knowing I wanted to work in a field that combined two things I loved: luxury and people. Eventually, I landed a position with Harwood International, working as a concierge for a private members club. I quickly became fascinated by the hospitality and private club industry and knew I had found a path that excited me.
About ten months into that role, I took a girls’ trip to New York City in December 2023. During that trip, I locked eyes with a stranger on the subway who is now is my boyfriend and best friend. Yes, it sounds like a movie, but it’s a true story.
After returning to Dallas, we spent four months doing long distance. Then, in true Meredith fashion, I decided to take another leap. My health was thriving, my career was gaining momentum, and I felt ready for a new challenge. Despite my insecurities about not having a college degree, I believed that my work ethic, personality, and drive could carry me further than I imagined.
So I applied to hundreds more jobs.
In April 2024, I accepted a position with a private members club in Manhattan and packed up my life for New York City. It was one of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life.
Since moving to New York, I’ve moved five times, changed jobs while staying within the private club industry, and experienced more than my fair share of challenges and growth. And yes—the man I met on the subway and I now live together. He has been one of the greatest gifts in my life.
Over the past year, I also began paying closer attention to my overall wellness. I noticed stress and inflammation were starting to get to me more than I wanted. While my weight loss journey had transformed my life, I realized there was still room to improve my strength, fitness, and gut health. When my boyfriend and I moved into an apartment with a gym, I decided to give strength training a try. I started with very little knowledge, but I fell in love with the process of learning, challenging myself, and becoming stronger.
Today, I train four to five times a week, prioritize my health, and continue to educate myself on fitness and wellness. The lessons I’ve learned go far beyond physical transformation—they’ve taught me resilience, consistency, and confidence.
That’s ultimately why I started sharing my journey online. My hope is that someone who feels lost, discouraged, or stuck the way I once did can see my story and realize that change is possible. You don’t need a perfect plan, a perfect background, or a perfect start. Sometimes all it takes is the spark to take the first step.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not even close.
Throughout my weight loss journey, I battled an on-and-off eating disorder while trying to maintain my weight. With time, support from doctors, and a better understanding of my health, I was able to overcome it. One of the biggest lessons I learned is that weight loss isn’t something you accomplish and then never think about again. You have to train your mind, build sustainable habits, and continually choose the lifestyle that will keep you healthy. I had to realize it is not about how I want to look, but how do I want to feel?
I also had my gallbladder removed a little over a year ago after experiencing gallbladder attacks for months throughout 2024. It was incredibly painful and a difficult chapter of my journey. Whether it was related to my significant weight loss, Ozempic, or a combination of factors, it was another reminder that health journeys are rarely linear.
Living in New York City has been a challenge as well—and honestly, it still is. I am in no way comfortable or adjusted to this environment! Dallas was what I was used to. But I’ve learned that the key is to keep showing up for yourself, stay focused on how far you’ve come, and remember why you started in the first place.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I started my Instagram account @glowwithmeredith a few months ago with one goal: to inspire others to believe that change is possible.
I remember what it felt like to be at my lowest—physically, mentally, and emotionally. There were moments when I genuinely felt hopeless and believed I would never become the person I wanted to be. Looking at my life today, I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come, and I want others to know that they are capable of creating that change for themselves, too.
What sets my platform apart is that I don’t just share the highlight reel. I talk openly about the realities of weight loss, maintenance, mindset shifts, confidence, setbacks, and the habits that have helped me build a healthier life. Growing up, I was often picked on and found myself in very toxic relationships because I didn’t think I deserved better. I lacked confidence and didn’t see much potential in myself at all. Looking back, I realize that the spark was always there—it just needed to be lit.
Through my content, I hope to help ignite that same spark in someone else. I share meals I make, workouts I enjoy, wellness habits, podcasts, products I’m loving, and practical weight-loss and maintenance tips. Most importantly, I want my audience to see that lasting transformation is about so much more than a number on the scale—it’s about building a life you feel proud of.
Right now, my account is a passion project and a hobby, but I’m excited to continue growing it into a space where people can find encouragement, motivation, and some sort of guidance on their own wellness journeys.
How do you think about happiness?
The people in my life make me happy, but especially my mom.
She is my biggest inspiration, my best friend, and one of the greatest blessings in my life. I feel incredibly lucky to have been born into this world with such a loving and supportive mother. We have the kind of relationship where I can call her to tell her every detail of my day, or call her and sit in silence just to feel closer to her.
I’ve always compared our relationship to the show Gilmore Girls. We can spend hours talking, laughing, sharing stories, and even exchanging a little too much information sometimes. No matter what’s going on in my life, she is the person who grounds me and reminds me of who I am.
Every conversation, visit, or moment spent with her brings me genuine joy. If there’s one person who has shaped me into who I am today, it’s my mom.
