Daily Inspiration: Meet Puja Agarwal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Puja Agarwal.

Puja , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey into health and wellness began in 2008—not as a passion project, but out of necessity. After being diagnosed with food and environmental allergies, I had to completely change the way I lived. Everyday choices—from food to home products—suddenly became overwhelming, and I had to learn how to navigate a world that wasn’t designed for my needs.A few years later, my daughter was also diagnosed with food allergies. That moment shifted everything. I realized this wasn’t just about healing myself anymore—I was creating a healthier, safer life for my family.I began diving deep into learning—how to cook nourishing gluten-free, plant-based meals rooted in Indian traditions, how to reduce toxins in my home, and how to support healing through natural and holistic practices. What started as a challenge became my purpose.Today, I help others do the same—create a life that supports their health, energy, and peace.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges was learning how to adapt traditional Indian cooking after being diagnosed with food allergies. Ingredients like wheat, milk, butter, and ghee are staples in many Indian households, so finding alternatives took a lot of research and experimentation.

Another eye-opening challenge was learning to read ingredient labels. I quickly realized that many packaged foods contained artificial colors, preservatives, and ingredients I couldn’t tolerate. It was overwhelming at first, but it taught me to be more mindful about what I bring into my home and put on my family’s plate.

These experiences shaped my approach to wellness and inspired me to help others make informed choices without feeling overwhelmed.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Today, I work as a Wellness Coach and Reiki Practitioner, helping people create healthier and more balanced lifestyles. I specialize in plant-based, gluten-free nutrition and help individuals and families make sustainable lifestyle changes that support their overall well-being.

My coaching is based on the concept of primary and secondary foods, which I learned through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. While the food on our plate (secondary food) is important, our relationships, career, physical activity, spirituality, and sense of purpose (primary food) also play a major role in our overall health and happiness.

I enjoy teaching healthy Indian cooking as well as simple fusion recipes along with kids friendly recipes smoothies, salads and more that make nutritious eating both practical and enjoyable.
I also educate people how to detox their home by using essential oils and other DIY ingredients which are present in our kitchen.
I also offer Reiki healing, meditation, and wellness workshops to support the connection between mind, body, and spirit.
I also teach basic gardening to kids and adults and encourage them to start a small garden.
It’s a part of my coaching as gardening is one of the simple ways to ground out self and reduce stress after a long day.
My goal is to help people create balance in all areas of life and make small, sustainable changes that lead to lasting improvements in their health, energy, and well-being.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is spending summers with my cousins, enjoying fresh mangoes, playing outdoors, and creating simple moments of joy together. I was fortunate to spend a lot of time with my grandparents, which taught me the importance of family, connection, and tradition.

I also loved helping my mother in the garden and watching fruits, vegetables, and flowers grow. Those experiences helped me develop an appreciation for nature and wholesome food from an early age. Family trips to the mountains are another memory I cherish—they gave me a sense of peace and connection with nature that I still value today.

Looking back, many of these experiences shaped my passion for wellness, mindful living, and living closer to nature.
