Daily Inspiration: Meet Terrance Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrance Wilson.

Hi Terrance , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After serving in the United States Army for 24 years in the logistics field and retiring, it was quite natural to seek another career toward something I love. That love was “Always Seeking to Serve the American People”. July 5, 2015, I launched Veterans Standard America as a sole proprietor. Today, we are a premier courier/ delivery service working with government agencies and private sectors.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In the beginning, it was somewhat smooth because it was only my wife and I. We provided direct deliveries to family and friends and eventually began providing services as an Independent Contractor for a larger service provider. However, as we sought government and private business contracts the road began to get a little rough. Struggles along the way include training staff personnel and hiring qualified drivers that embraced our principles.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Veterans Standard America (VSA) is a Veteran-Owned transportation and courier services provider supporting time-sensitive federal, state and local government delivery requirements across Texas and regional areas. We specialize in same-day and scheduled delivery, last-mile logistics, and Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) transport. VSA delivers reliable chain-of-custody, rapid dispatch, and consistent on-time performance to help agencies meet mission timelines while controlling total delivery cost.

What are you most proud of?
Our ability to recruit Veterans and their family members. There’s unspoken emotional attachment when you work with those of similar past and like-minded.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
We use a web-based application for our dispatchers, staff and customers to submit delivery requests. Moreover, our drivers are assigned delivery orders via a mobile app.
