Hi Barbara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As a child, I believed the path laid out for me was the one I was meant to follow.
Growing up with addict parents and hearing my mom say, “If I just had a little more money, I could leave your father,” I thought the situation I was born into was the one I had to stay in.
But over time, I realized that the circumstances we’re born into don’t define what’s possible for us. We always have a choice.
I chose a different path – one rooted in independence, stability, and purpose. That decision changed everything.
It’s why I do what I do today.
It’s why I help others see that they can rewrite their story too – that freedom and abundance aren’t reserved for the lucky; they’re built through intention, strategy, and belief.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Suffering taught me to trust that even when everything feels like it’s falling apart… it’s actually falling into place.
I’ve been broken down, burned out, and blindsided more than once. But those seasons taught me things success never could – resilience, resourcefulness, and gratitude.
You learn who you really are when everything feels like it might slip away. You learn how to shift your mindset from rejection to redirection, from breakdowns to breakthroughs.
Once you’ve built from that place – the place of nothing but faith, grit, and sheer determination – there’s very little that can shake you again.

People know me today as a tax strategist and the Founder and CEO of Your Tax Coach®, but my journey has always been driven by one mission: helping business owners keep more of the money they work so hard to earn.
Over the past decade, I’ve built a career around challenging the traditional approach to taxes. After earning my Master of Science in Taxation (MST), I realized there was a huge gap between what most business owners were taught about taxes and the strategies that were actually available to them. I wanted to change that.
That passion led me to build Your Tax Coach®, where we’ve now helped clients save more than $100 million through fully legal, proactive tax strategies that turn everyday expenses, investments, and even travel into opportunities to build wealth.
As the business has grown, so has the mission. I’ve created Write Off Your Life®, launched the globally ranked Life Changing Money podcast, and founded Minted Wealth Live® and The Council Mastermind™ to help entrepreneurs think beyond taxes and create lasting wealth.
Today, I work with successful business owners and high-net-worth individuals who want to be intentional about growing and protecting their wealth. My goal has always been simple: challenge outdated tax advice, educate people on strategies they were never taught, and help them create more financial freedom for themselves and their families.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happiest is knowing I’ve built a life that’s aligned with what matters most to me.
Of course, I love helping business owners save money and build wealth, but beyond the business, what brings me the most joy is being fully present with my family, staying connected to my purpose, and having the peace that comes from living with intention.
I’m grateful that I’ve created a business that allows me to make a real impact while also enjoying the freedom to travel, discover new places, and experience life with the people I love. Success isn’t just about business milestones for me—it’s about building a life with integrity, balance, and purpose.
At the end of the day, knowing I’ve helped someone change their financial future while still being able to enjoy my own life is what makes me happiest.
