Today we’d like to introduce you to Carla Cristofori Monica Ossandon.
Hi Carla Cristofori, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Happy Bubble Yoga Retreats was born from a shared vision between us, Carla and Monica. After decades of teaching and practicing yoga, owning a yoga studio abroad, leading teacher trainings in Texas, and witnessing firsthand the positive impact yoga can have on people’s lives, we felt inspired to create experiences that extend beyond the yoga studio walls.
We believe that yoga is a pathway to wellness, self-discovery, and living life more fully. Through the yoga practice, we become more aware of ourselves, more connected to our inner world, and more mindful of the people and environment around us. This awareness can help us grow, heal, and navigate life with greater clarity and purpose.
That belief is what led us to create Happy Bubble Yoga Retreats. We wanted to offer people the opportunity to step away from the busyness of everyday life, constant responsibilities, and endless to-do lists, and spend time in beautiful, inspiring places where they can truly pause and reconnect.
For us, retreats are about much more than traveling to a beautiful destination. They are an opportunity to slow down, build meaningful connections, deepen one’s yoga practice, and create space for reflection and renewal. Whether someone is discovering a new part of themselves or reconnecting with a part that has been forgotten along the way, our goal is to create experiences that support well-being, personal growth, and genuine connection.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overall, our journey has been relatively smooth. Along the way, we have encountered a few minor challenges related to bookings and cancellations, which were expected as part of organizing and growing our retreat offerings.
One of the most significant challenges occurred just weeks before our most recent yoga retreat in Tulum, Mexico. At the time, Mexican security forces carried out an operation that resulted in the death of the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, creating a sense of uncertainty and concern among travelers considering trips to Mexico.
Fortunately, the situation did not escalate. Since Tulum is located approximately 1,500 miles from the area where the operation took place, the retreat proceeded safely and without disruption. Our guests enjoyed a wonderful experience, and the retreat ultimately became another successful milestone in our journey.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We Curate Yoga Retreats.
Our retreats are designed to be accessible, welcoming, and meaningful. While yoga is at the heart of what we do, our purpose extends far beyond the physical practice. We create opportunities for people to step away from their daily routines, slow down, reconnect with themselves, and experience the support of a like-minded community.
Together, we bring more than 35 years of combined yoga practice and teaching experience. We successfully owned and operated a yoga studio abroad for nine years, currently lead yoga teacher trainings in Texas, and are deeply committed to making yoga accessible to people from all backgrounds. As bilingual teachers, we are also able to connect with a diverse community and foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome.
What makes our retreats truly special is not simply the destination—although we carefully select beautiful locations and personally visit each one to ensure it reflects the Happy Bubble experience. What sets our retreats apart is the intention behind every detail. We genuinely care about people’s well-being and understand the powerful impact that yoga has, meaningful connection, and time away from everyday responsibilities can have on mental, emotional, and physical health.
Our goal is for every guest to leave feeling rested, supported, inspired, and more deeply connected to themselves than when they arrived.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
That is always a great idea to get travel insurance (joke, but true).
One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is to go with the flow whenever we face situations beyond our control. Travel, much like yoga, teaches flexibility, patience, and adaptability. While unexpected challenges may arise, they often become part of the journey and remind us to focus on what truly matters: staying present, supporting one another, and making the most of the experience.
