Hi Carla, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always loved fashion, but for me, it’s never really been about the clothes. It’s about helping women feel confident, beautiful, and seen.
For many years I worked alongside my husband in our family businesses while raising our two sons. Opening Bella Bliss Boutique wasn’t something I did in my twenties. It was a dream I pursued later in life, and in June 2021 I opened the doors in historic downtown Gainesville, Texas.
Building a small business has been one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences of my life. Like every small business owner, I’ve experienced uncertainty, long hours, and moments where I questioned whether I was enough. Through every season, my faith in Jesus Christ has been my anchor. I truly believe God opened this door, and I’ve tried to steward it in a way that honors Him by serving others well.
Today, Bella Bliss is more than a boutique. My goal has always been to create a welcoming place where women of every age, shape, and size feel comfortable shopping. I want every customer who walks through the door to feel genuinely cared for and leave more confident than when she came in.
One of the things I’m most proud of is using the boutique to give back. Whether it’s partnering with organizations like Abigail’s Arms and CASA, hosting community events, or finding ways to support local causes, I believe a business can make a meaningful difference. Bella Bliss has allowed me to combine my love of fashion with my heart for serving others, and for that I’ll always be grateful.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many small business owners, I’ve faced rising costs, changing retail trends, staffing challenges, and the uncertainty that comes with owning a business. There have been seasons when I questioned whether I was doing enough or whether I could keep moving forward.
On a more personal level, I’ve also had to work through difficult experiences from my past that affected my confidence for many years. Learning to believe in myself and step into business ownership later in life was a journey in itself. Looking back, I can see that God was preparing me through every season, even the hard ones.
One lesson I’ve learned is that success isn’t about never facing obstacles. It’s about choosing to keep going. My faith has given me the strength to persevere, and I’m incredibly thankful for the loyal customers, family, and friends who have encouraged me along the way.
Those experiences have also shaped how I run Bella Bliss today. I want every woman who walks through our doors to feel welcomed, valued, and encouraged, because you never know what someone may be carrying when they come in.

Bella Bliss Boutique is a women’s and children’s boutique located in historic downtown Gainesville, Texas. We carefully curate clothing, shoes, jewelry, and gifts that help women feel confident, comfortable, and beautiful in every season of life.
What truly sets Bella Bliss apart isn’t just what we sell, it’s how we serve. From the beginning, I wanted our boutique to be a place where every woman feels welcome, whether she’s shopping for a special occasion or simply looking for an outfit that makes her feel like herself again. We carry a wide range of sizes because I believe every woman deserves to feel confident and beautiful.
One of my greatest joys is building relationships with our customers. Many have become friends over the years, and that’s something I never take for granted. I want people to know they’ll be greeted with kindness, honesty, and personal attention every time they walk through our doors.
I’m also passionate about giving back to our community. Bella Bliss partners with organizations like Abigail’s Arms and CASA, and we regularly host events and fundraisers because I believe a business should make a positive impact beyond its walls.
Above all, I want Bella Bliss to be known as a place where people feel seen, valued, and cared for. My faith in Jesus guides the way I lead my business, treat my customers, and serve my community. If someone leaves our boutique feeling more confident and encouraged than when they arrived, then we’ve done what we set out to do.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest piece of advice is don’t wait until everything feels perfect before you begin. I opened Bella Bliss later in life, and if I had waited until I felt completely ready or fearless, I probably never would have opened the doors.
I would also encourage people to stay true to who they are instead of trying to copy everyone else. Trends come and go, but authenticity never goes out of style. Build relationships, treat people well, and genuinely care about those you serve. People may come in because of what you sell, but they’ll come back because of how you made them feel.
Most importantly, keep your faith at the center of whatever you’re building. There will be challenges, setbacks, and days when you question yourself. Those moments don’t mean you’re on the wrong path. Lean on God, keep showing up, work hard, and trust that He can do more than you ever could on your own.
Looking back, I wish I had believed in myself sooner. God created each of us with unique gifts and a purpose, and we don’t have to have all the answers before taking the first step.
