Exploring Life & Business with Christina Walker of A Great Day & Better Tomorrow Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Walker.

Hi Christina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story started out as a teacher and decided my journey did not end there. I continued my education in school counseling, studying abroad and learning more about couples and families. After accepting a school counseling position and working with students, families and staff I wanted to make more of a difference. Doing both school counseling and private practice work became tiring and I made the decision to transition into full time private practice. I took a risk and bet on myself and never have looked back. It is not easy but if it was easy everyone would be doing it.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been an easy and smooth road to say the least. There were long nights, balancing acts of managing families needs, my own needs and financial responsibilities. I wanted to give up at times and reminded myself I am not a quitter. The struggles of running a business, putting the students needs first, fulfilling the responsibilities from the principal was not easy. I kept looking towards a more preferred future and focused on my goals and priorities. I lost and gained friends along the way and kept reminding myself of my purpose and to fulfill my dreams sometimes you take the road less traveled.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about A Great Day & Better Tomorrow Counseling?
I own a private practice and specialize in families and couples counseling. I have extensive training in EMDR for complex trauma. My work with young children onward has given me a unique experience in helping people. Using a solution and strength approach sets me apart from others. I am most proud of speaking, teaching and being a published author. Being a supervisor in the field of counseling inspires me to continue providing quality and ethical services consistently.

What were you like growing up?
As a child growing up I was very playful, competitive, a leader, many interests, creative, and trying new things. Dancing was a passion and then wanted to be a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader so I joined a gymnastics team and tried cheer. My dad was a band director so I tried the piano, clarinet, flag core and the drill team. I liked to be creative and took art and theater. When I tried a sport I like to run so I ran the 400m and 800m race. I like to stay busy and have fun.
