Exploring Life & Business with Fatima Rojas of Sweet Capricho Bakery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fatima Rojas.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Fatima Rojas, born in Guanajuato, Mexico and raised in Dallas, Texas. My journey with Sweet Capricho started as a small dream fueled by my love for baking and creating beautiful desserts. I remember the first time I helped my mom bake a cake was for my 10th birthday and I believe that’s when my passion for baking began. What began as making treats for family and friends quickly turned into something more when people started asking for orders and sharing my work. I realized I had something special—not just in the desserts themselves, but in the joy they brought to others.

Balancing long days, learning as I went, and pouring my heart into every detail, I slowly built Sweet Capricho from the ground up. From perfecting recipes to creating a brand that reflects my style—soft, feminine, and full of cariño—every step has been intentional. There were moments of doubt and exhaustion, but also so much growth, support, and excitement that kept me going.

Today, Sweet Capricho has grown into more than just a dessert business. It’s a space where creativity, culture, and passion come together. From mini cakes to specialty lattes, every order is made with love and meant to create a memorable experience. I’m incredibly grateful for the community that continues to support me, and I’m excited for everything that’s still to come.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like many small business owners, I’ve faced my share of challenges along the way. In the beginning, one of the biggest struggles was learning everything on my own—from perfecting recipes and managing orders to pricing my work and building a brand. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes that people don’t always see.

Balancing long hours, especially during busy seasons, has also been challenging. There were days I felt exhausted trying to keep up with demand while still maintaining the quality and attention to detail that Sweet Capricho is known for. On top of that, putting yourself out there on social media and growing a business from scratch can feel overwhelming at times.

But every challenge has taught me something valuable. It’s pushed me to grow, stay consistent, and trust in what I’m building. Those struggles have shaped Sweet Capricho into what it is today and made every milestone feel even more meaningful.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sweet Capricho Bakery?

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how authentic Sweet Capricho feels. It reflects my personality, my culture, and my love for creating something beautiful from scratch. From the branding to the packaging to the customer experience, everything is thoughtfully curated.

More than anything, I want readers to know that Sweet Capricho is built with heart. It’s a growing brand that values quality, creativity, and community, and I’m so grateful to be able to share that with every person who supports it.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about the Dallas area is the sense of opportunity and community. There’s so much room to grow here, especially as a small business owner. People really show up to support local brands, and there’s a strong culture of entrepreneurship that’s both inspiring and motivating. I’ve been able to connect with so many amazing people through pop-ups, collaborations, and events, and that support has played a huge role in the growth of Sweet Capricho.

What I like least is probably how fast-paced everything can feel at times. Balancing the demands of running a business while keeping up with such a busy, constantly moving environment can be overwhelming. Also, because there are so many great businesses here, it can be challenging to stand out—but at the same time, that challenge pushes me to keep growing, improving, and staying creative.
