Exploring Life & Business with Felicia Jones of LeadHER In Heels

Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Jones.

Hi Felicia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
LeadHER in Heels started in 2018 with my burning desire to help entrepreneurs and corporate professional women understand their Leadership Identity and use their unique voices to connect with clients, team members and most importantly develop themselves. We also help little girls to become LeadHER’s in Heels. I believe the children are the future and how can a Leader lead if they have not worked on themselves?

The thought process of me starting my business came while I was working for a company that was very toxic. I saw how difficult it was for women in Corporate America to use their voices in an environment full of dominating men. I wanted to help those women that were smart, empowering yet afraid to speak up for themselves personally or on company issues that needed to be resolved.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. There has been many challenges. One of the main challenges has been related to maintaining a healthy balance between work, health, and self-care. I have overcome several challenges due to my health and had to take a break. Knowing that my health comes first and that I cannot be of any great help to anyone else if I am not myself healthy to run the business. I am happy to be up and running the business full-time.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My most proud business/project is my Misfit Mogul Travel Bags. When allowed I can let my mind be so creative and come up with some of the most beautiful designs for my travel bags. At first, my thought was every Leader In Heels needs a travel bag and I came up with 5 original designs to market with LeadHer In Heels. The Little Girl Leader, The Corporate Girl, The Sophisticated Lady, The Executive Chic, and The Savage make up the original 5 Leadership Bags. People started loving the concept and wanted more designs. That’s when I came up with Misfit Moguls.

Since then, we have expanded and started working with local entrepreneurs and school-age children to create merchandise that represents them in the best light.

According to the Urban Dictionary!!! Misfit is basically, a unique individual. In the social classes of today, a misfit doesn’t fit into anyone quite right, not even the outcasts, but may have qualities of each one. Misfits tend to follow their own beliefs and are usually persecuted for it. Misfits tend to have few good friends and are usually intelligent and mature. Misfits tend not to care about not having a social life, but some do.

Mogul is a very powerful and influential person in a business/industry. Power derived from experience and skill, not popularity (most celebrities while called moguls are in fact not). Look in the dictionary Under Misfit Mogul you will find me.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that I love doing is dedicating my birthday to those that are less fortunate. For the past 6 years, I have create a theme for my birthday and I raise the money and give it all to people and businesses that are less fortunate. I have rallied friends and family to help feed the homeless in Dallas, I have visited nursing homes to bring gifts to them. I love doing the back-to-school project for kids. This coming year I would like to give out a scholarship to a few deserving students.
