Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Fuller.
Hi Hannah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into the event industry began long before I officially launched my business. Growing up, I spent years watching and helping my mom coordinate corporate events throughout much of my childhood and teenage years. Those early experiences gave me a firsthand look at the creativity, organization, and heart that go into creating meaningful events.
When I attended college to study Business Administration and Marketing, I discovered a true passion for entrepreneurship and event planning. While at the university, I joined the on-campus event team, where I helped plan and execute events for students across campus. That experience was really the beginning of my professional journey in event planning.
Not long after, a close friend asked if I would help with her wedding day, and that experience completely changed the direction of my career. Through serving her during such a meaningful season of life, I fell in love with wedding planning specifically and realized how much joy I found in walking alongside couples throughout the process.
Interestingly, wedding planning was never originally part of my long-term plan. After undergrad, I fully intended to attend law school and truly had no idea where life would eventually lead me. Instead, after graduating, I accepted a position with a new lease-up apartment community where I helped coordinate resident events while continuing to take on planning opportunities on the side as a hobby. I also pursued my MBA.
Over time, that passion continued to grow. I dreamed of pursuing event planning full time, but like many small business owners, the uncertainty of leaving a stable career felt intimidating. Eventually, I transitioned into a role at a local marketing agency, where I spent several years gaining valuable experience while still carrying the desire to fully step into the wedding industry. During that season, wedding planning remained a side business, even though I knew my heart was pulling me toward something more.
Then came a turning point. I was part of a round of layoffs at the agency, and while it was an unexpected and difficult moment, it ultimately became the push I needed. I realized I would never know what was possible unless I fully committed to the dream I had been carrying for years.
From there, I jumped in wholeheartedly. I built my business from the ground up — creating a logo, designing my website, developing my client paperwork, and marketing myself from scratch. What began as a side passion has now grown into a business I am incredibly grateful for, allowing me to serve couples during one of the most meaningful seasons of their lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always challenges that come with being a small business owner, especially in an industry where there is never a guarantee of what the next season will bring. The uncertainty of not always knowing where the next booking will come from can be intimidating, particularly in the early stages of building a business.
When I first transitioned into wedding planning full time, I had only booked five weddings for the year. However, through consistency, word of mouth, and a genuine passion for serving my clients, that quickly grew into planning and coordinating more than 30 weddings annually.
During that same season of growth, I also became a mother for the first time. Navigating the balance between running a growing business and caring for a newborn required me to reevaluate how I operated and supported my clients. It challenged me to build a business that could continue to serve couples well while also allowing me to prioritize my family.
One of the greatest blessings to come from that season was building an incredible team of women alongside me. Not only do they assist on wedding days, but several have also stepped into lead roles to execute weddings on my behalf while still upholding the level of care, professionalism, and experience my clients expect. Learning to trust and grow a team was a major turning point for both my business and my personal life, and it ultimately allowed Heirloom Weddings and Events to grow in a sustainable and meaningful way.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Heirloom Weddings and Events ?
My business is a full-service wedding and event planning company offering Full Planning, Partial Planning, and Day-of Coordination services. From the very beginning, building a meaningful and intentional brand was incredibly important to me.
The name “Heirloom Weddings and Events” was inspired by the meaning behind an heirloom itself — something treasured, timeless, and passed down through generations. To me, a wedding represents exactly that. It is the beginning of a legacy, the joining together of two families, two stories, and two “heirlooms” becoming one union that will continue for generations to come.
Because of that perspective, wedding planning has always been so much more to me than simply a business transaction. I become deeply invested in each of my couples, not only professionally, but personally as well. I truly view my clients as friends and extended family, and my goal is for them to feel fully supported throughout every stage of the planning process.
I want my couples to know they can come to me with anything! Whether it’s logistical concerns, stressful moments, big decisions, or personal emotions that naturally come with such a significant season of life — without fear of judgment or hesitation. As a past bride and wife myself, I understand how important it is to feel cared for, advocated for, and genuinely supported leading up to the wedding day, not just on the day itself. Creating an experience where couples feel seen, celebrated, and cared for both emotionally and practically is at the heart of everything I do.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Determination, care, compassion!
