Hi Jenny, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Jenny Alvarado, and I am the owner of Purely Magical Skin Lab in Seagoville, Texas.
My journey began long before I became an esthetician. I came to the United States from Honduras in 2015 as a single mother, determined to build a better future for my family. Like many immigrants, I faced challenges, uncertainty, and moments when giving up would have been easier. However, those experiences taught me resilience, perseverance, and the importance of believing in myself.
As I settled into my new life, I discovered a passion for skincare and helping others feel confident in their own skin. What started as a personal interest eventually became a career path. I pursued my education, became a licensed esthetician, and committed myself to continuously learning and improving my skills so I could provide safe, effective, and personalized treatments for my clients.
I founded Purely Magical Skin Lab with the goal of creating more than just a skincare business. I wanted to create a space where people could feel cared for, confident, and empowered. Today, I specialize in customized facials, acne treatments, anti-aging treatments, waxing, microneedling, PRP, and advanced skincare services designed to help clients achieve healthy, glowing skin.
Building my business has not always been easy. There have been obstacles, sacrifices, and countless hours of hard work. But every challenge has helped me grow both personally and professionally. Seeing my clients gain confidence and hearing how their skin transformations impact their lives reminds me why I started this journey.
Today, I am proud of how far I’ve come, but I still see this as the beginning. My goal is to continue growing Purely Magical Skin Lab, serving my community, and inspiring other women and entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams no matter where they start.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, but every challenge has helped shape who I am today.
One of the biggest challenges was starting over in a new country while raising my children and trying to build a stable future for my family. As an immigrant entrepreneur, I had to learn how to navigate a completely different environment, build confidence, and create opportunities from the ground up.
When I started my business, I didn’t have a large client base or a big budget. Like many small business owners, I wore every hat imaginable—esthetician, marketer, receptionist, social media manager, bookkeeper, and customer service representative. There were times when growth felt slow and moments when I questioned whether I was doing enough.
Another challenge has been balancing business ownership with family responsibilities. Running a business requires long hours, continuous education, and constant dedication, while still being present for the people who depend on you.
The beauty and skincare industry is also highly competitive and constantly evolving. I’ve had to invest in ongoing training, new technologies, and advanced treatments to ensure I provide the best possible care for my clients.
Despite the challenges, I have learned that persistence is more important than perfection. Every obstacle has taught me valuable lessons, strengthened my work ethic, and reminded me why I started this journey. Looking back, I’m grateful for those struggles because they helped me build not only a stronger business, but also a stronger version of myself.

Purely Magical Skin Lab is a skincare studio located in Seagoville, Texas, dedicated to helping clients achieve healthy, radiant skin while feeling confident and cared for throughout their journey.
As a licensed esthetician, I specialize in customized facials, acne treatments, anti-aging treatments, microneedling, PRP, chemical peels, waxing, and advanced skincare solutions. My approach is never one-size-fits-all. Every client receives a personalized treatment plan based on their skin concerns, goals, and lifestyle.

My goal is not only to provide treatments, but also to educate clients about their skin and help them build confidence through healthy skincare habits.

Many of my clients come to me struggling with acne, hyperpigmentation, aging concerns, or low self-confidence related to their skin. Watching their transformation—both physically and emotionally—is the most rewarding part of my work.
I continuously invest in advanced education and training to stay current with the latest techniques and technologies in the skincare industry. My mission is to provide safe, effective, and results-driven treatments while building lasting relationships with the people I serve.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I believe luck has played a role in opening certain doors, but hard work, resilience, and faith have been the driving forces behind my journey.
When I came to the United States from Honduras, I was looking for an opportunity to create a better future for my family. Along the way, I have been fortunate to meet people who supported me, encouraged me, and believed in me. I consider those connections a blessing.
At the same time, I have experienced challenges that many people might consider bad luck. Starting over in a new country, facing personal hardships, raising children while building a career, and growing a business from the ground up were not easy experiences. However, those difficult moments taught me strength, perseverance, and determination.
Looking back, I believe that what some people call luck is often the result of being prepared when opportunities arise. Every setback taught me something valuable, and every opportunity required hard work to turn it into progress.
Today, I am grateful for both the good and difficult moments because they helped shape the person, mother, and business owner I have become. They remind me that success is not about luck alone—it is about continuing to move forward, even when the road is challenging.
