People often see 2020 as the year ASTRELLE began, but the truth is, this brand lived in the margins of my childhood notebooks for as long as I can remember. Growing up Kurdish, jewelry was never just fashion to us. It was history. I’d watch the women in my family get ready for celebrations, captivated by their intricate dresses and the heavy, beautiful gold belts they wore. Those pieces weren’t just accessories; they told our stories.
That feeling—the way a piece of jewelry can hold a memory or a milestone—stayed with me. I became fascinated by how cultures all over the world use adornment to mark their most important moments, and I realized early on that I didn’t just want to admire this art; I wanted to create it.
Today, my goal with ASTRELLE is to take the warmth and tradition I grew up with and craft it into modern heirlooms for your own love stories.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. The most significant challenge since launching ASTRELLE has been finding the right partners and artisans to work with. When you are building a brand centered on uncompromising quality, you simply cannot afford to cut corners.
It took time to build a network of people who share my meticulous standards and expectations for the final product. To me, we aren’t just selling accessories. I want my clients to have the absolute best materials because this jewelry becomes a tangible part of their life stories. We are crafting vessels for their most cherished memories, and that level of responsibility requires a team that is entirely dedicated to perfection.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that surprises most people is that I am actually quite shy. Building a bespoke brand requires a lot of personal connection, which naturally pushed me out of my comfort zone. However, the design process has been entirely therapeutic for me. Getting the opportunity to work closely with new people and create something beautiful for them has slowly helped me open up. It is much easier to be outgoing when you are talking about something you genuinely love.
