Exploring Life & Business with Shayna Jones of Wellness With Shay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shayna Jones

Hi Shayna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into the charcuterie board business started when I hosted my close family and friends at my home for my 30th birthday in 2022. I set up a grazing table the length of my kitchen island and paired it with an arrangment of wines to try. Soon after, I received an inquiry to host a class for a group of 20 women at the Alpha Phi Alpha convention.
I’ve always loved hosting, but I never imagined myself turning it into a business. Through word of mouth, networking, markets, and social media traction I’ve grown Grazing With Shay organically in the DFW area.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has definitely not been a smooth one. I had a lot to learn about running a business and all the back of house work that goes into it. I’m still learning and grateful for all the struggles that are teaching me what works well and what has room for improvement. One of my biggest struggles has been breaking into the market space. We commonly service private events like birthdays and weddings in Dallas, so when I decided to create smaller scale charcuterie boxes for sale at markets it was a learning curve. I was a bit overzealous and made 100 boxes for a market in Forth Worth that unfortunately did not get as much traffic as anticipated because of the weather. Im learning to take the unforseen circumstances into consideration when deciding how to approach the world of Dallas markets.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Wellness With Shay is a wellness brand with a couple of different offerings. We focus on a realistic well balanced approach to intuitive eating, health, and movement for the busy woman that cares about taking care of herself, but still likes to sip on a good cocktail and has no desire to give up coffee completely for tea. As a certified nutrition coach, I am working diligently to bring you a cookbook with both food and drink recipes, and nutrition coaching services for both personal and corporate needs!

Grazing With Shay, a subset of Wellness with Shay, ventures into the event planning space providing charcuterie style grazing tables and to go boxes for events around the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Whether you are in need of a grazing table for a birthday party or a convenient box to graze from in the bridal or groom suite for a wedding, Grazing With Shay creates a beautiful arrangement that puts a basic cheese board to shame. Perfect for all your celebrations!

I want readers to know that I get it. I know how crazy life can be. I’m not interested in extreme approaches when it comes to health. Im interested in teaching whats sustainable and how to holistically take care of your mind and body.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’ve really fallen in love with the “Good Moms, Bad choices” podcast. The women that host are so innovative, hard working, and open minded. Seeing how far they have come as business women and working moms is extremely empowering.
