Hi Steve, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 1990 I was looking through the classified ads in the newspaper under Businesses For Sale(I didnt have any Money at the time). I ran across a Man selling a Chimney Sweep Business. It sounded interesting and I called him. He wanted a $1,000. He let me give him $500 down( had to borrow that money) and then $100 a month for 5 months. One thing he told me that I will never forget is “You will never be broke for CHRISTMAS.”
He was absolutely right ! My Dad had just retired in Iowa and decided to come down to Texas and work for me Sweeping Chimneys. Then months later I had a man call me and asked if I wanted to buy his Chimney Sweep business. He sold it to me for $7,000 with $1,000 down and then $1,000 a month for 6 months. I now had more customers and more cleaning equipment. I already owned and operated a Carpet Cleaning company here in Lewisville so I decided to start doing both jobs. I combined the business into Partners Carpet Care and Chimney Cleaning. When my Dad got too old to get on roofs anymore then I decided to take over the Chimney Sweeping only and give up the Carpet Cleaning. I changed the name to Partners Chimney Sweep. It was alot more fun sweeping Chimneys. My son Steve Jr had always helped me since he was little and the years passed by and he finally was old enough to work with me and he still does today. My daughter Stephanie helps out in the summer time but she is a School Teacher. Now my Grandson Carter that is 16 has been helping me ( he starting learning the business young also since he was 6 years old) on the weekends, during the summer and after school. We are a Small Family Owned and Operated business here in Lewisville. My wife Deanna answers the phone and schedules our appointments and runs our office out of our home. She Truly is the Voice of Partners Chimney Sweep. Our customers just Love her and I am so grateful for her. My Wish is for my Son ,Steve Jr and my Grandson Carter to take over the Business one day and continue my Legacy of being a HONEST, HARDWORKING MAN. I truly Love what I do and I consider my customers as Family. We have made many loyal friends through the years. We appreciate their loyalty and friendship . They have Rewarded our Business with a 5 Star Google rating. As the Song goes ” A Sweep is as LUCKY as LUCKY can be” That is how I feel every day Lucky and totally Blessed😁🎩
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Summertime has always been our slow months and made for financial struggles through the years,however my wife ,Deanna would work outside of the home to help out and make sure I could focus on growing our business. Lucky for me I have had her at home now for 11 years of working full time for our Business.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Partners Chimney Sweep ?
We are basically a Chimney Sweeping company. We Sweep chimneys, clean gas log fireplaces, clean Dryer Vents and offer minor fireplace and Chimney repairs.
We do offer Chimney inspections and Chimney sweeps for both Residentail and Commercial properties. We Love helping our customers keep their Chimney/ Fireplace clean and safe and this keeps their home Safe.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I am a huge risk taker. I moved down here to Dallas in the hottest month of July 1980 during the heat wave.
My Best Friend Wally and I flipped a coin and we were either going to California or Texas. TEXAS won. I begin working in the Tile and Coping industry for Pool builders. That was hot and hard work. Then after that job I started cleaning Carpets with my cousin and then we enjoyed it so much we started our own Carpet Cleaning Company called PARTNERS CARPET CARE in The Colony in 1982. I was young and barely making it and living in a Trailer with my cousin in a small town called Eastvale. Back then I answered my own phone and booked my own jobs. I learned to be work hard and be honest and treat people like you want to be treated. My Business grew with loyal customers and their referrals. I definitely believe if you want to do something whole heartedly then Take the RISK and go for it. Take the chance and you never know what will happen. 😁
