Hi Tammy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I am a first-born American, daughter of immigrant parents who is following her heart to happiness through the American dream as a small business owner. Party planning has been a passion of mine since I was a child, I was intent. When I had a vision for an event it had to be spectacular and I would make it happen, no matter what! I remember planning with my mom in detail all my birthday decorations, candy bags, invitations, and activities–This went on indefinitely of course!
During my university education, I discovered a new love and passion for flowers. This added to my party skill set and talent grew under the apprenticeship of my amazing mentor, Melissa White @botanika_brilliantstatementinc in San Antonio, Texas. A spark was ignited in me, accompanied by the opportunity to work on large scale weddings and corporate events for several years, I knew my journey was to be continued. After some time, a few city moves later, and a lot of courage to achieve happiness for myself, I am now excitedly growing my new business, I began during the pandemic. Petal Party & Co, a floral and event planning company that shares the cheer of celebration through unique petal creations & luxury aesthetics in Dallas, Texas.
Petal Party & Co is a dream come true in which I hope to continue brightening days and bring vision to reality through my passion and commitment, while creating memorable experiences for everyone. I look forward to opening doors to our retail space, coming Spring 2022!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well, I wouldn’t say the road has been smooth as peanut butter, especially when starting your own business there’s things that come up and you learn as you go. First, you put yourself out there with the hopes of making a name for yourself, but don’t know if you’ll succeed. I quickly began to gain traction with growing demand in clients, then a second obstacle entered of outgrowing a workspace along with a current floral & supply shortage hitting the event industry.
I am a YES person and always want to deliver 100% for may client’s so when there are limitations it can be frustrating. I try to take it step by step as it’s easier to think of it as part of the event’s dynamic and the show must go on so I just learn to work with what I’ve got and figure it out to make the client happy.

A quote that has always stuck with me by Roman philosopher Seneca, “Luck Is What Happens When Preparation Meets Opportunity,” applies beautifully to Petal Party & Co. The job as a florist & event planner looks glamorous, but it is a lot of hard work and preparation. I pour my heart and soul into every arrangement and project that is reflected as a work of art.
]The more it is recognized, the more opportunity I am presented with, thus, Petal Party grows. Throughout this year I have had the opportunity to work with many big names in the industry like Kettle One, Don Julio, Perfectly Timed Events, and CASA of Collin County. I’m grateful to have launched my small business in the midst of a pandemic and already be so successful.
