Exploring Life & Business with Tyler Meksavanh of T-Mex Automotive Detailing LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Meksavanh

Hi Tyler, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My love for cars sparked when I was very young, my dad being an automotive mechanic and car guy himself really sparked my interest from a young age. I have many memories of working on cars, riding in his cars, and going with him to the local self service car wash to keep his cars such as his Nissan 300zx clean. When I turned 16 and got my first car, I basically lived at a car wash or was in the driveway keeping my car clean, I’ve always liked to keep a clean ride. As the years went by, I picked up a job as an automotive detailer at Enterprise, then that led me to get a position over at Jax Wax, where I sold car care products and handled their social media pages. In the middle of all that, I woke up one morning and said “Screw it, I’m gonna turn my hobby of cleaning cars and keeping them shiny into a business” and in May 2022 I did just that. I bought everything I thought I needed at the time, loaded it into my trunk, started reaching out to locals on Facebook, Instagram, and in person, I haven’t looked back since! Since the start of my journey in 2022, we have grown tremendously. We now have 30+ vehicles on our Weekly, Biweekly, or Monthly Maintenance plan, we have had the opportunity to work on everything you can think of, exotics, trucks, boats, motorcycles, etc. We grew from just a quick wash and vacuum packages all the way to Multi-step paint correction and ceramic coating packages!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
If someone who owns a small business says it’s been an easy and smooth road/process, they’re lying to you. I have had many obstacles throughout the years, from equipment breaking, to personal sickness/injury, to my work trucks going down, weather being bad, there’s always something going on! Even though we have been hit with little challenges here and there, we still manage to push through the adversity and get things done!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I feel that there is two qualities than is important for not only my own success but many others is passion and persistence.
You cannot fake your love and passion for something, doing something because that’s your calling or that’s what you love is 100x better than doing something strictly for money. You do it for the love of the game!

Being persistent is the second one. When times get hard, you get hit with a set back, a lot of people will give up. The persistent people push through and find a way!
