Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Super Baked Cakes isn’t something that would exist today if it wasn’t for my mom. She’s been a cake decorator for 30+years and my love for baking began by watching her. She made every one of my birthday cakes growing up and I was enamored watching her decorate. When I discovered YouTube I would spend hours watching cake tutorials and always found it very entertaining! In school I would make cakes for my friends and was definitely known as the cake girl lol. Like most young adults I didn’t really have a clear path lined out for me when I graduated high school. I had a college diploma as well but I felt unmotivated in pursuing a traditional career. So I took a gap year. I was working a waitressing job that gave me enough free time and I eventually was sucked right back into the life of making cakes. I had absolutely 0 clients so they were mostly free cakes I gave out to friends and family. I made an Instagram account to try and get clients so I could have the opportunity to create more cakes! I want to thank everyone who gave that version of me a chance and trusted a stranger to make a cake for their special moment. No matter how big or small the order was I am proud to say I truly gave it 110% ! I think people noticed that and the word of mouth spread. I began getting more and more people asking me to make them a cake! I think it was about 1.5 years in that I became flooded with requests and decided to take a bet on myself and quit my restaurant job. I went all in and started doing this full time. I chose a name for my brand and made my own logo! I feel very grateful to my mom Isalia because she gave me a talent with my hands that I use to make a living and have a job I love! I’m not perfect but I continue to grow everyday and am very excited for the future me who will be making even more badass cakes!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The beginning of something new doesn’t always start with a bang and that’s something I personally experienced. At the start I think I would sometimes only get 1 order a month! That’s definitely something that can be discouraging to most but you have to keep showing up for yourself! Even if it was only 1 order I made sure to put in 110% and make it as good as I could .

I run a home based cottage bakery. I make special custom cakes for any occasion no matter how big or small! I am honored to have my treats be a part of many people’s events! Every order at Super Baked Cakes is made fresh and from scratch. I do everything start to finish my self (with a little help from my husband when it comes to carrying heavy things) and like to focus on quality over quantity.
What matters most to you?
Working from home gives me a good work life balance and is something I am very grateful for . I am appreciative of it everyday and try not to take it for granted.
