I come from humble beginnings that have significantly shaped my journey and aspirations. As the oldest child of Jamaican parents who immigrated to the US to provide a better life for my brother and me, I was raised with a deep appreciation for hard work and determination. Witnessing my father’s unwavering dedication as a professional car painter for over four decades left an indelible mark on me. I carried a sense of responsibility to build upon the solid foundation they had laid.
My commitment to excellence extended to my academic pursuits and work ethic, leading me to take on my first official job at the age of 14. While I didn’t have a clear roadmap for my future, I had key objectives in mind. I aimed to be the first in my family to graduate from college, make my parents proud, secure my first home, and eventually move beyond the confines of Illinois, where I grew up.
In 2014, an incredible opportunity took me to the St. Thomas Virgin Islands, marking a transformative chapter in my life. The experience provided profound insights into my aspirations and a pivotal moment where I envisioned the logo that would later become the emblem of our inaugural family business, which we proudly established in 2020.
Upon my return to the mainland in 2017, my family and I decided to make Texas our new home. Fueled by an entrepreneurial spirit, we launched Kulture Elevation in 2020—a platform that celebrated cultural pride, education, and apparel. Kulture marked the commencement of a greater vision that our family shared.
The turning point arrived when a franchise consultant approached me with a proposition that resonated with my entrepreneurial journey. The subsequent conversation ignited the spark that led to a remarkable evolution. From there, the pieces fell into place, and as they say, the rest is history.
My journey from modest beginnings to the inception of our family’s ambitious ventures has reinforced my belief in the transformative power of hard work, passion, and seizing opportunities. It’s a tribute to the values instilled by my parents and the determination to leave a lasting impact on the world around me.
