Hidden Gems: Meet Cordarryl Franklin of C4 NXT LVL Training

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cordarryl Franklin

Hi Cordarryl, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Ellis Cordarryl Franklin, known to most as Cord, is an entrepreneur from the small town of Star City, Arkansas and now resides in Dallas, Texas. He is the founder and CEO of C4 NXT LVL, and has been sharing his gift and love for the game of basketball for the last 5 years in the Dallas Metro area. His love of basketball began at the young age of 5 and like most who were raised in the 90s, Michael Jordan became his favorite player. He developed his skills over the years by playing in his backyard, and at his family’s local owned playground, “Maddox Park”. He describes playing there as being equivalent to Rucker Park in New York, in his eyes. Those blacktop battles taught him a ton, & were legendary to him. It made him the hooper he is today. In which he’s known as a smooth operator in all aspects of his game. From the blacktop, he played basketball for the Star City Bulldogs of Star City, before transferring to Frisco, Texas his senior year, to live with his father. While in Frisco, he also lended his basketball talents to the Frisco High Raccoons, to then graduating, and having a very brief college basketball career.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, the road to becoming a successful Entrepreneur for him, hasn’t been smooth. You have some good days of course, but it’s a ton of rainy days. Cord believes the most important thing to remember as an entrepreneur, player, and just in everyday life, is to never give up. “Sometimes it seems as though your business or product isn’t working, but you can’t get fixated on the now. That’s the process, and you have to accept it. All the hardships, all the experiences, are to help you succeed in the future. It’s all a part of the game.” Great words to live by.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
C4 NXT LVL was created from Cordarryl’s aspiration of wanting to give back to a sport he has grown to love over the years, by teaching up and coming basketball players the correct way to play the game. He lives basketball, and it has shown in his work ethic and how he has grown his beloved program, to one of the premiere basketball brands in the Dallas area, within the last 5 years. C4 NXT LVL is a youth/adult basketball training program, as well as a competitive grassroots basketball organization. The brand specializes in comprehensive, detailed skills training, along with elite driven workouts that are tailored to each individual player. Also as of late, there is a yoga program on the horizon, NXT LVL Yoga, in which sets this brand apart. As we all know, injuries are apart of the game of basketball, as well as any other active sport unfortunately. Well, with the idea of introducing this form of workout/practice, to players everyday routine, it will teach different stretching techniques that are good for the body, in preparation for a long healthy career. Let’s not forget also, with one of the top Yoga brands in Yoga Design Lab, being the manufacturer for all NXT LVL Yoga products, it’s safe to say, it’ll be a hit amongst his athletes in no time.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I would say, finding a mentor in your particular field, could help your progression drastically. Mentors can help guide you on the do’s & don’ts while you get familiar with the field. Their insight could be very valuable. You always need to network, because you never know who you might run into, & who might be an ally to your success. Sometimes it’s not what you know, but who you know. I’ve personally have had a mentor in the basketball world since I started in the business. First one being my friend Marckus Vernible. He’s the guy who really introduced me to coaching and training 1st, basically by putting correct knowledge in my head, on how to do both at the same time. While letting both entities(Coaching/Basketball Training) feed off of each other and grow. My other mentor Darnell Hinson, turned into my business partner. He basically taught me the ropes when it came to running a larger basketball organization, how to brand & organize, how to build quality basketball relationships, how to develop players, how to recruit, and so much more. Their insight and knowledge helped grow me in a way that made me one of the best coaches in the area, I believe. Them two are good brotha’s, and their good at what they do. Their impact will forever be a good one on me, and the children’s we’ve all manage to mentor/coach.
