Hidden Gems: Meet Desiree Tillery of Partylicious Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Desiree Tillery.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
At the height of the pandemic, I made a conscious decision to move to the DFW area. I sold my home, closed my decorating business and made the 21 hour drive to Texas with my 5 year old son. This dream of moving to Texas to start a fresh, new life has not come without resistance. It has been the hardest 4.5 years of my life. Not sure of what business I wanted to go into, I started cleaning homes. Eventually, I reopen my décor business here. A few events trickled in, then an opportunity became available and I was able to open an event venue in Fort Worth. I worked hard to make my venue the best I could with the little resources I had, but disaster crept in and I was forced to shut the doors in December of 2023. I pushed forward and took gig jobs to pay bills while my event decorating business dwindled down to nothing. In March of 2025, I pivot to organizing my very own food festival. I’ve worked with other similar events as an independent contractor, but this is all mine to cultivate. Bites Food Festival came from an idea of bringing good food and vendors to an area that lacks the celebration of cultural diversity of DFW. I have a vision of showcasing the many cultures of DFW for everyone to enjoy at least once a month. The very first Bites Food Festival will take place at Marquez Bakery & Tortilla Factory located in Arlington on Saturday, July 12th. The success of this event will very much be determined by the people seeing value in what I’m trying to bring together. I’m hoping for support in this new chapter of my life..

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Discoverability has been the biggest struggle. The people can’t see what I offer. At one point, I thought I was on an upward mobility to a high level of success in my field, however, in 2023 that all changed. My ads stopped working, referrals dried up and everything plummeted.

As you know, we’re big fans of Partylicious Events. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m an event planner and decorator. I specialize in bringing clients dreams to reality within an appropriate budget of course. These days my focus is on the success of my upcoming food festival. I’m proud of my ability to get this going on my own with no help from anyone. I hope to bring consistency and quality to this field.
