Hidden Gems: Meet Jorge Vasquez of ATLAS COUNSELING and EDUCATION LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Vasquez.

Jorge, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Atlas Counseling and Education was created from my own life experiences, my education, and my desire to serve the community in a meaningful way.
I was born in Mexico and came to the United States when I was five years old. Growing up, I was connected to both Mexican and American culture, and that helped me understand the importance of language, family, education, and community.
My education has always been a big part of my journey. I attended UTEP for a few years and later completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services through the University of Phoenix. I then earned my Master’s degree in ESL from Jones International University because I wanted to better assist my community, especially individuals and families who needed support navigating different systems.
Before starting Atlas, I worked for many years as a certified bilingual special education teacher. That experience taught me patience, structure, compassion, and the importance of meeting people where they are. Over time, my path led me into offender education and substance abuse services, where I saw a real need for programs that were professional, respectful, and practical.
In 2019, I started Atlas Counseling and Education with the goal of helping people complete their legal and educational requirements while also giving them tools to make better decisions. What started as a small effort has grown into a bilingual provider offering DWI Education, DWI Intervention, DOEP, substance abuse evaluations, outpatient services, and Victim Impact Panel access.
Today, Atlas is more than just a program to me. It represents years of work, education, service, and a belief that people can learn from difficult moments and move forward. My goal is to provide services that are structured and accountable, but also respectful, supportive, and focused on growth.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting Atlas was not easy. Some of the biggest challenges were learning how to be present for my family while working two jobs and also managing every part of building an independent business. There were many things I had to learn along the way, from the program requirements to the business side of operations. I was fortunate to have the advice and support of a few good friends and family members who believed in me and helped guide me through those early stages..

We’ve been impressed with ATLAS COUNSELING and EDUCATION LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
