Today we’d like to introduce you to Patsy Balacchi.
Hi Patsy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story begins in El Salvador in the early 1970s, in the backyard of a big, beautiful Spanish colonial house, surrounded by lush fruit trees, a flower garden, and the warm, comforting glow of mountain sunsets.
Nature was my first teacher, refuge, and companion. When tension filled the house, I climbed my favorite lime tree and found peace looking at the sky and clouds in the quiet canopy. Back in my room, I would rearrange my toys, desk, and bookshelves, intuitively reorganizing my space to feel calm. I didn’t have a name for it then. I just knew that when my environment felt right, I felt better.
That quiet inner-knowing inspired me to study architecture right after high school, where I first encountered Feng Shui, the ancient art and design system of understanding how the energy of land and environments supports human life.
Life brought me to Norwalk, CT; Miami, FL; and then Houston, through a graphic design career spanning over 25 years, marked by award-winning brand and web design work recognized by the American Advertising Federation, DG USA, and LogoLounge, and by a personal health journey that would ultimately shift everything. It was Feng Shui practiced from the inside out that became my most profound healing tool, not just as a design system but as an energy map for the mind, heart, body, and spirit.
I’m the founder and creative director of Zenotica®, a multidisciplinary graphic design and holistic platform, and of Good Shui Life®, my latest project dedicated to supporting wholesome wellness with integrity, compassion, and a nature-inspired approach to life.
I’m a bilingual Feng Shui consultant, teacher, and biophilic designer serving clients in English and Spanish across the U.S. and Latin America. I’m also an artist and photographer, drawing inspiration from the splendor of nature and the cosmos. They remind me that I am connected to something amazing, alive, and intelligent.
My mission is simple: to help people create spaces that truly sustain their lives. When your environment is in harmony with the flow of energy and aligned with your essence, life can flourish.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a tremendously catalytic, humbling, and grounding road, and I am grateful for every “blesson”.
In 1990, during my first pregnancy, I developed a serious condition called preeclampsia. My body could not eliminate toxins, so they remained in the blood. The delivery was complicated and required a blood transfusion. My son was born healthy, but my blood was contaminated with the Hepatitis C virus. The medical resources at that time did not work for me. I was navigating a health crisis in silence while building a life and a career on the outside.
It took years of deep reflection, self-forgiveness, and a relentless commitment to healing, including vegetarianism, acupuncture, qigong, herbal medicine, Ayurveda, Kriya yoga, and eventually Feng Shui, to find my way back to myself. Each practice added a layer of wholeness. Feng Shui helped me understand the profound connection between my inner self and my outer environment. The Bagua energy map, a tool used in Feng Shui, showed me that my home was a mirror of my life and that, by tending to my space with intention, I could also shift the energy within me.
In 2016, I underwent a 3-month medical treatment to finally eradicate the Hep-C virus. It worked, but rehabilitation took nearly two years. The side effects were intense. I was lethargic, and my bones hurt. Sometimes I could not move for days. Yet that long, quiet period of healing became the most spiritually abundant chapter of my life. I emerged with a clarity of purpose I had never felt before. I started painting again and earned my Feng Shui certification.
The “blessons” (blessings-lessons) shaped me into the holistic practitioner, teacher, and artist I am today. They instilled in me the empathy I bring to every consultation or workshop and the wisdom that true healing begins at home.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Zenotica® and Good Shui Life®?
I lead two complementary platforms that constitute my life’s work:
Zenotica® is my multidisciplinary branding and holistic design studio, where I have helped homeowners align with their goals as well as businesses and entrepreneurs build vibrant visual identities that reflect their values and vision over the past 25 years. My graphic design work—brand systems, logos, websites, and book covers—is grounded in the same principles that guide my Feng Shui practice: clarity, beauty, order, and alignment. A brand, like a home, should be a true expression of its own essence.
Good Shui Life® is my latest heartfelt endeavor, a platform dedicated to spreading harmony, goodness, and positivity through Feng Shui education, consultations, and curated eco-friendly products. I serve clients in both English and Spanish, which allows me to bridge communities and bring this time-proven practical wisdom to a broader, more diverse audience.
My Feng Shui approach is rooted in the understanding that our homes are not just places we inhabit; they are living systems that interact with every area of our lives. I begin by helping clients understand the underpinnings of disease (emotional, spiritual, and physical) to create a nurturing foundation from which everything else can stabilize, be in harmony, and flow. I help clients identify how each space corresponds to health, relationships, money, career, creativity, and other major life areas.
I also weave biophilic design into my work, honoring our innate human need to stay connected to nature through living plants, natural light, organic textures, and nature-inspired art. As an artist, I connect with nature, translating it into something others can resonate with in their own spaces.
My workshops and talks have been hosted across the U.S. and El Salvador. I have been featured in media outlets that celebrate purposeful living. Whether I’m working with a corporate client on a wellness-centered office or sitting with a homeowner in their dining room, I provide the same dedication: to co-create and harmonize spaces where people can heal, transform, thrive, and enjoy their environments.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Learning to trust my intuition has been the most transformative practice for both my life and my work. I’ve had this innate talent since I was a little girl. I’m able to connect with people, the land, and nature with ease. I’ve become a great listener. Lately, I’m learning to lead with my heart.
I believe that when we are in a congruent heart-centered relationship with ourselves, each other, and the world around us, our spaces reflect that harmony. That’s what I call Good Shui.
