Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexi Adam
Hi Alexi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After graduating from Texas A&M University with a degree in business economics, I was very uncertain about my career direction, though my love for makeup artistry was evident. While attending college, I worked with a wedding company as a makeup artist, enjoying it as a way to earn money while being a college student, but I never imagined it could become a career. After graduating with my business degree and moving to Dallas, I decided to attend esthetician school to explore more options in the beauty industry. During my time there, I realized that my true passion lay solely in makeup artistry. I always knew I wanted to be a business owner, which was the reason behind my degree, I realized the opportunity to pursue my dreams of becoming a full-time makeup artist in a major city was absolutely possible. Graduating from esthetician school helped me recognize my skills and the knowledge I had in both makeup artistry and business. This realization inspired me to launch Psalm Beauty, a luxury, bridal-based hair and makeup company. I started with thorough research, reaching out to established artists in the industry, and really just shooting for the stars. That decision has proven to be one of the best I’ve ever made.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business with limited resources as a recent graduate at the age of 23 presented significant challenges. I had to find creative ways to build my company from the ground up, especially being in a new, big city. I collaborated with local wedding vendors to coordinate styled photo shoots that showcased my work, providing a platform to market my new business. I strongly believe that surrounding yourself with like-minded, successful individuals is extremely important for success. I love the saying “birds of a feather flock together” because the people I have met and work with today have helped me tremendously to get to where I am, continue to improve every day, and also encourage me to keep shooting for the stars. Establishing my name in a competitive industry like makeup artistry in Dallas was no easy feat, and it’s an ongoing effort that I continue to embrace every day.
As you know, we’re big fans of Psalm Beauty. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Psalm Beauty, we specialize in luxury hair and makeup services, dedicated to enhancing the natural beauty of our clients and helping them feel like the most beautiful version of themselves. While we focus primarily on bridal services, we also love working with clients looking to treat themselves for parties, events, or any special occasion.
What sets us apart from other beauty teams is our meticulous attention to detail, expertise, and creativity. Our artists are deeply passionate about their craft and stay up to date with the latest trends in the beauty industry, ensuring we enhance our clients’ natural beauty rather than masking it. We prioritize understanding our clients’ visions, paying close attention to their preferences to create looks that truly reflect their desires.
We take great pride in our brand’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, celebrating all ethnicities and ensuring that everyone feels welcome and valued. Every client receives the same level of attention and care when working with us.
Additionally, we offer unique services that distinguish us from other beauty teams, including mini facials prior to makeup application and options for medical-grade treatments like derma-planing. This comprehensive approach allows us to provide a luxurious and personalized experience that many makeup artists in the industry do not offer. Ultimately, our goal is to make every client feel cherished and confident, creating unforgettable memories on their special days.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Thinking back, I don’t think that I have one specific favorite childhood memory, although competitive dance and cheerleading was a huge part of my childhood. I competed for 12 years of my life with a competitive team called Thunder Elite. I always had a very “love hate” relationship with competition because it was so mentally and physically draining sometimes, although I had a huge passion for the sport and the competitions were so rewarding and exciting. I guess I’ve always been a hard-working, girly girl!
