Inspiring Conversations with Andrea Adjei of Complexxion By Dre

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Adjei.

Hi Andrea, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey started in 2020 — right in the middle of the chaos that had the whole world asking, “What now?” I was one year out of college, had been laid off twice during COVID, and honestly, I was feeling defeated. But in the middle of all of that, something clicked. If the whole world was starting over, why couldn’t I?
So I did.
I enrolled in esthetics school that fall and from there, Complexxion By Dre was born. With the mentorship and support of my big sister Ashley, owner of Edit By Eleventh Hour, she helped navigate the industry and life of an entrepreneur. From there, I started building my brand and my clientele from the ground up.
When I completed my program, I knew I didn’t just want to offer services — I wanted to offer something that set me apart. That’s what led me to brows. Brows have always been my thing. I was always that girl spending more time perfecting her brows than any other step in her makeup routine. I knew the power a great brow could have on someone’s confidence, and I wanted to bring that to my clients. And I haven’t looked back since!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
HA! Nothing worth having comes easy and building this business has been proof of that.
From day one, I’ve been doing this while working a full-time corporate job. Learning how to pour into my 9-to-5 and my 5-to-9 has been one of the biggest challenges. I go through seasons where my corporate job gets more demanding and my brand momentum slows down, and then seasons where it’s the opposite. On top of that, add servicing clients and trying to stay consistent on social media — it’s a lot. I’ve really had to get intentional about prioritizing my time and planning ahead so my goals don’t get away from me.
The other thing I’ve had to work through? Getting out of my own head. It is so easy to fall into the comparison trap — chasing trends, watching what everyone else is doing and completely lose sight of what I’m building. Progress over perfection is something I have to remind myself of constantly. It’s not about being the best overnight, it’s about growing in my craft every single day.
When things get tough, I bring it back to the basics to where I started, what I’ve already accomplished, and everything I still have my eyes set on. That always re-centers me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Complexxion By Dre ?
At Complexxion By Dre, we specialize in brow waxing, tinting, lamination, and facial services for clients across the DFW area. Every single appointment starts with a consultation and custom brow mapping. No guessing, no rushing, just results that are tailored to you.
If you’ve been seeing “brow lamination” everywhere and wondering what it actually is — think of it like a reset for your brows. We restructure the brow hairs to lay in a uniform direction, giving you that full, fluffy look. The results are low maintenance and last weeks. It’s a game changer, especially for anyone with unruly, sparse, or asymmetrical brows.
What sets Complexxion By Dre apart is the experience beyond the service itself. I genuinely get to know every client who sits in my chair — their lives, their milestones, their moments. I’ve done brows for first dates, weddings, girls’ trips, and everything in between. When a client comes back and shares what’s been going on in their life, that means everything to me!
At the end of the day, Complexxion By Dre is a space where you can expect quality work, genuine connection, and beauty services done with real care and intention.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Honestly? I think risk is just part of the deal. You can’t grow without evolving, and you can’t evolve staying comfortable. At some point you have to bet on yourself!
Starting a business is a risk in itself, but doing it in 2020, in the middle of a pandemic? Some people might call that reckless, lol. The world was already in chaos.. What’s the worst that could happen, another lockdown?
But in all seriousness, it was a huge gamble. I was investing in an esthetics program, building a brand from scratch, and figuring it out as I went. There were no guarantees. But I knew that not trying was not an option.
The risk didn’t stop there. Every new service I add, every skill I invest in, every time I show up and keep building while also working a full-time job — that’s a risk too. It doesn’t always have to be dramatic. Sometimes risk just looks like choosing to keep going when it would be way easier not to.
Nobody wants to experience failure, The real loss would be never trying and always wondering “what if”.
